Theresa Armijo began her USGS career in the Connecticut office, where she contributed to studies throughout the Connecticut River and the estuaries of the Long Island Sound in both Connecticut and Rhode Island. Her expertise in this office was primarily operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting continuous water quality sondes with a focus on fluorescent sensors.
In May 2023, Theresa transferred to the Lakewood Field Office of the Colorado Water Science Center, where she operates stream gages, water quality sondes, and conducts sampling throughout Grand County, CO. She continues to focus on fluorescent water‑quality monitoring, including work in Grand Lake, CO, and is a certified UAS Remote Pilot supporting the center’s development of drone‑based remote sensing for water quality applications. Theresa has also been an instructor for the Guidelines for the Operation and Computation of Records of Continuous Water Quality Monitors course since 2024, helping advance training in the same monitoring techniques she uses in her field work.
