Data

Basic hydrologic data collection, processing, analysis, dissemination, and archiving are major parts of the California Water Science Center program. Streamflow data, for example, are used for flood and water-supply forecasts, planning and design, river regulation, streamflow statistics, and research investigations. Much of the data are available on a near-real-time basis by satellite telemetry.

Groundwater quality data from Bristol and Cadiz Basins, San Bernardino County, California, USA

Water chemistry data from wells drilled by brine operations in Bristol and Cadiz Basins in San Bernardino County, California, USA. These data are used in the Journal article: Rosen, M.R, Stillings, L.L., Kane, T., Campbell-Hay, K., Vitale, M., Spanjers, R., in press, Possible sources and mechanisms of anomalous Li and Ca enrichment in the Bristol Dry Lake brine compared to other playa brines in

Historical Produced Water Chemistry Data Compiled for the Elk Hills Oilfield, Kern County, California

This dataset contains geochemical and other information for 340 samples of produced water from the Elk Hills Oil Field. Water that is produced as a byproduct of oil production is called produced water. The publicly available produced water chemistry data was compiled by USGS staff using historical DOGGR datasets and scanned images. The data were transferred manually into a numerical dataset and or

Historical produced water chemistry data compiled for the Orcutt and Oxnard oil fields, Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties, southern California

This digital dataset represents historical geochemical and other information for 58 sample results of produced water from 56 sites in the Orcutt and Oxnard oil fields in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties, respectively, in southern California. Produced water is a term used in the oil industry to describe water that is produced as a byproduct along with the oil and gas. The locations from which the

Largemouth bass population assessment within flooded islands of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta

Field and laboratory data collected for fishes sampled by boat electrofishing in the Sacramento-San Joaquin delta, CA. This data release includes all measured environmental parameters, body composition analyses, otoliths, and fish taxa included in the analysis.

Aquifer test data for multiple-well monitoring site LHSP, Kern County, California

To determine aquifer characteristics, pneumatic slug tests were performed on selected zones and aquifers at a monitoring site near the Lost Hills oil field in the Southern San Joaquin Valley in Kern County. On May 30th and 31st, 2018, pneumatic slug tests were performed at five monitoring wells located at the multiple-well groundwater-monitoring site LHSP (26S/21E-07J1 through ?J5) near Lost Hills

Global Positioning System Survey data for 2015, and Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar Data for 1995-2017, Coachella Valley, Riverside County, California

GPS data collection: GPS measurements were taken at 24 geodetic monuments during September 27-October 2, 2015. The GPS surveys generally followed established guidelines (Zilkoski and others, 1997), except that the data were processed with single-baseline, rather than multi-baseline, software. GPS measurements were recorded at the monuments on at least 2 different days during 1-hour observation per

Physical and Biological Drivers of Fish Populations in the Sacramento Deep Water Shipping Channel, California, 2016-2018

This dataset includes field and lab data for fish, vegetation, zooplankton, phytoplankton, fish diets, and stable isotopes collected during daylight hours in the Sacramento Deep Water Shipping Channel in the Northern Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, California, USA. This data release includes all measured environmental parameters, animal taxa, and isotope values included in the analysis.

Bathymetry, Stage-Area, and Stage-Volume Tables for the San Antonio Reservoir, California, 2018

This dataset is associated with the following Scientific Investigations Report: Marineau, M.D., Wright, S.A, and Lopez, J.V., 2020, Storage capacity and sedimentation characteristics of the San Antonio Reservoir, California, 2018: U.S. Geological Survey Scientific Investigations Report 2019-5151, 34 p., https://doi.org/10.3133/sir20195151.

Pesticide Constituent Data from the California Groundwater Ambient Monitoring and Assessment Program Priority Basin Project (GAMA-PBP), 2004 - 2018

The California Groundwater Ambient Monitoring and Assessment Program Priority Basin Project (GAMA-PBP) submitted 2,994 samples in 2004-2018 to the USGS National Water Quality Laboratory (NWQL) for analysis of pesticide constituents on NWQL schedules 2003, 2032, or 2033, and 840 samples in 2004-2011 for analysis of pesticide constituents on NWQL schedule 2060. Fram and Stork (2019) describe the GAM
