Compilation of State-Level Freshwater Harmful Algal Bloom Recreational and Drinking Water Guidelines for the Conterminous United States as of 2022

This data release contains a national compilation of state-level qualitative and quantitative guidance for a variety of environmental indicators that are used to identify the presence of a harmful algal bloom (HAB) in freshwater ecosystems. These include qualitative guidelines based on visual or olfactory signals, as well as quantitative guidelines based on cyanotoxin concentrations, algal biomass

Annual Nutrient Loads at Illinois EPA Ambient Water Quality Monitoring Network Sites, Water Years 1976–2021

This data release contains estimates of annual nitrogen and phosphorus loads, as well as loads of other constituents, from sites in the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (Illinois EPA) Ambient Water Quality Monitoring Network. The loads were estimated using Weighted Regressions on Time, Discharge, and Season with Kalman filtering (WRTDS-K) and existing discrete water-quality data and discha

Lower St. Croix River Steady State Hydraulic Inputs for FluOil Workshop

This data release contains steady-state hydraulic input files for the FluOil model (Zhu and others, 2022) that describe the lower St. Croix River between St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, and Stillwater, Minnesota. These files are derived from the results of a steady-state one dimensional (1D) hydraulic model of the river reach at three discharges (10,000, 20,000, and 35,000 cubic feet per second (cfs))

Meteorological Database, Argonne National Laboratory, Illinois, January 1, 1948 - September 30, 2022

This data release (DR) is the update of the U.S. Geological Survey - ScienceBase data release by Bera (2022), with the processed data through September 30, 2022. The primary data for water year 2022 (a water year is the 12-month period, October 1 through September 30, in which it ends) is downloaded from the Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) (Argonne National Laboratory, 2022) and is processed fol

Watershed Data Management (WDM) Database (WBDR21.WDM) for West Branch DuPage River Streamflow Simulation, DuPage County, Illinois, January 1, 2007, through September 30, 2021

This data release is the update of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) - ScienceBase data release Bera (2022b), with the processed data for the period October 1, 2020, through September 30, 2021. This data release describes the watershed data management (WDM) database file WBDR21.WDM. The WDM database file WBDR20.WDM (Bera, 2022b) is updated with the quality-assured and quality-controlled meteorolog

Watershed Data Management (WDM) Database (SC21.WDM) for Salt Creek Streamflow Simulation, DuPage County, Illinois, January 1, 1997, through September 30, 2021

This data release is the update of the U.S. Geological Survey - ScienceBase data release Bera (2022b), with the processed data for the period October 1, 2020, through September 30, 2021. This data release describes the watershed data management (WDM) database SC21.WDM. The precipitation data are collected from a tipping-bucket rain-gage network and the hydrologic data (stage and discharge) are col

Bathymetry, Point Clouds, and Water Velocity in the Downstream Approach to Peoria Lock, near Peoria, Illinois, During Testing of an Automated Barge Clearing Deterrent, July–September 2022

A variety of new technologies are being evaluated to mitigate the spread of invasive carps from the Illinois River to the Great Lakes. In 2022, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and U.S. Geological Survey undertook a field-scale interagency study to determine the efficacy of an Automated Barge Clearing Deterrent (ABCD) in flushing live fish away from commercial barg
