Data
Our interdisciplinary, integrated science teams develop various data sets in support of the USGS mission areas. This information then aids natural resource managers in decision making and support of the complex issues they face in today's world. The data and tools listed here are official USGS data releases.

Native Bee Genera in Colorado Conservation Reserve Program Fields, Collected from 2012-2014 Native Bee Genera in Colorado Conservation Reserve Program Fields, Collected from 2012-2014
Data included in this data set are for blue vane trap captured native bees from Logan County, Colorado starting in 2012 and ending in 2014. Data collected were the number of bees captured per date, per field, and identified to genus. Net level data contains 16,229 records.
Intraguild predation dataset for arthropods on tarweed plants Intraguild predation dataset for arthropods on tarweed plants
Data on intraguild predation of arthropods on the tarweed Hemizonia congesta. Arthropod counts (predators, herbivores, etc) and counts of entrapped arthropod corpses on focal plants in an experiment manipulating arthropod carrion amount and plant damage. Quantifications of plant damage and reproduction are presented.
Workflow to create global species distribution model for Bombina orientalis, Xenopus laevis, and Pomacea from GBIF data and climate, land cover, topography, and MODIS derived predictors Workflow to create global species distribution model for Bombina orientalis, Xenopus laevis, and Pomacea from GBIF data and climate, land cover, topography, and MODIS derived predictors
This data bundle contains some of the inputs, all of the processing instructions and all outputs from a single VisTrails/SAHM workflow. This model specifically includes location data for Bombina orientalis and random background locations. Predictors include climatic, topographic, and land cover rasters. The three bundle documentation files are: 1) '_archive_bundle_metadata.xml' which...
Biophysical assessment for indemnity selection of federal lands in Colorado Biophysical assessment for indemnity selection of federal lands in Colorado
Information on the biophysical features of federal lands identified as suitable for transfer to the State of Colorado was requested by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). This information is intended for use in conducting an environmental assessment prior to transfer of ownership (conveyance) to the State. The Enabling Act of 1864 provided for the conveyance of federal lands to the...
Broad-scale assessment of biophysical features in Colorado Broad-scale assessment of biophysical features in Colorado
Information on ecological communities, soil salinity, and land use was synthesized and summarized for all lands in Colorado. This biophysical information was requested by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for use in conducting an environmental assessment prior to the transfer of ownership (conveyance) of federal lands to the State of Colorado. The Enabling Act of 1864 provided for the...
Metagenetic analysis of stream community composition based on environmental DNA Metagenetic analysis of stream community composition based on environmental DNA
A survey of environmental DNA was performed in Tunison Creek downstream of the USGS Tunison Aquatic Laboratory. The goal of the survey was to characterize the source ecological community at multiple trophic or taxonomic levels by associating DNA fragments with reference databases. Three taxonomically informative genetic loci were used: the mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase 1 locus, the
Photographs Showing Change in Riparian Vegetation in the Grand Canyon, 1889, 1991, 2010 and other years Photographs Showing Change in Riparian Vegetation in the Grand Canyon, 1889, 1991, 2010 and other years
The viewpoints were first photographed by Stanton in 1889, and then re-photographed in about 1991, 2010 and sometimes other years. This set of photos focuses on change in riparian vegetation and partially overlaps a larger set of Stanton viewpoints re-photographed by Webb and others and available at http://wwwpaztcn.wr.usgs.gov/fscc/stanton-repeat-photography/index.php. The file of...
Laboratory Data on Cabbage Looper Moth Response to Xanthotoxin, 2018 Laboratory Data on Cabbage Looper Moth Response to Xanthotoxin, 2018
A dataset of caterpillar performance in an experiment manipulating mean and variance of xanthotoxin levels in diet. Caterpillar growth, development time, and egg production of mated females is presented. Data were collected by all authors in 2017 in a laboratory at Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO.
Spatial data sets to support conservation planning along the Colorado River in Utah Spatial data sets to support conservation planning along the Colorado River in Utah
With the help of local and regional natural resource professionals, we developed a broad-scale, spatially-explicit assessment of 146 miles (~20,000 acres) of the Colorado River mainstem in Grand and San Juan Counties, Utah that can be used to support conservation planning and riparian restoration prioritization. For the assessment we: 1) acquired, modified or created spatial datasets of...
Spatial datasets to support analysis of the influence of tributary junctions on patterns of fluvial features and riparian vegetation along the Colorado and Dolores Rivers (Utah and Colorado). Spatial datasets to support analysis of the influence of tributary junctions on patterns of fluvial features and riparian vegetation along the Colorado and Dolores Rivers (Utah and Colorado).
To examine potential influence of tributaries on riparian habitat complexity along ~216 km of the Colorado River in Utah and ~300km of the Dolores River in Colorado and Utah, we first classified fluvial features and land cover of the bottomland on remotely sensed imagery. We then examined riparian and geomorphic patterns within the near channel zone with variably-sized spatial units. We...
Central Mojave Desert Vegetation Mapping Project, California, 1997-1999: Plots Points and Photographs Central Mojave Desert Vegetation Mapping Project, California, 1997-1999: Plots Points and Photographs
The Mojave Plots Points data are 1,219 plot locations in the Central Mojave Desert where field data were recorded and photographs were taken from 1997-1999 to provide context for the classification of the Central Mojave Desert into various vegetation classes. The 1,219 plot locations in the plots points shapefile (plots_points.shp) are each assigned a unique identifier called the...
North American Grid-Based Sampling Frame North American Grid-Based Sampling Frame
This sampling frame is a set of grid-based finite-area frames spanning Canada, the United States, and Mexico. The grid for the United States is broken into individual grids for the continental United States, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. Alaska is combined with Canada into a single grid. Each country/state/territory extent consists of four nested sampling grids at 50x50km, 10x10km, 5x5km, and...
