Fort Collins Science Center
Software
The Information Science Branch, along with scientists from other branches at the Fort Collins Science Center, develop a myriad of software and web applications to benefit the scientific community. ScienceBase is currently our largest project which entails a data cataloging and collaborative data management platform, a central search capability, and services faciliting many downstream applications.
Software to Process and Preserve Legacy Magnetotelluric Data
Software to Process and Preserve Legacy Magnetotelluric Data from circa 1990 truck-mounted cross power and time series files in ASCII format.
Metadata Wizard 2.0
The is a useful tool designed to facilitate FGDC metadata creation for spatial and non-spatial data sets. It is a cross-platform desktop application built using an open-source Python architecture.
ScienceBase
The U.S. Geological Survey is committed to enhancing and expanding information sharing and sound data management practices. Science teams directly use ScienceBase as an information management and collaboration platform and to release scientific data. ScienceBase is a central location that provides access to aggregated information derived from many data and information domains.
Software for Assisted Habitat Modeling for VisTrails
The Software for Assisted Habitat Modeling for VisTrails has been created to both expedite habitat suitability modeling and help maintain a record of the various input data, pre- and post- processing steps, and modeling options incorporated in the construction of a species distribution model. It is constucted as a "package" of modules that can be used within VisTrails, open-source management...
Blossom Statistical Package for R
Blossom is an R package with functions for making statistical comparisons with distance-function based permutation tests developed by P.W. Mielke, Jr. and colleagues at Colorado State University, and for testing parameters estimated in linear models with permutation procedures developed by B. S. Cade and colleagues at the U.S. Geological Survey' Fort Collins Science Center, U.S. Geological...
Physical Habitat Simulation (PHABSIM) Software for Windows
The purpose of the Physical Habitat Simulation System (PHABSIM) is to simulate a relationship between streamflow and physical habitat for various life stages of a species of fish or a recreational activity.
SmartRiver GIS
Smart River GIS allows simultaneous views of river hydraulics, species-specific habitat, and fish population simulations, for a better understanding of complex ecological interactions. We used existing data sets from the South Platte River in Colorado to develop a multi-layered geographic information system (GIS) that resource managers can use to improve their understanding of river...
Software for Assisted Habitat Modeling Package for VisTrails (SAHM: VisTrails) v.1
The Software for Assisted Habitat Modeling for VisTrails has been created to both expedite habitat suitability modeling and help maintain a record of the various input data, pre- and post- processing steps, and modeling options incorporated in the construction of a species distribution model.
USGS Twitter Earthquake Dispatch (@USGSted)
@USGSted (USGS Twitter Earthquake Dispatch) distributes Twitter alerts for earthquakes worldwide with magnitudes of 5.5 and above. When citizens feel shaking activity, they often use the popular social media application, Twitter, to "tweet" what they are experiencing.
Blossom Statistical Package
Blossom is an interactive program for making statistical comparisons with distance-function based permutation tests and for testing parameters estimated in linear models with permutation procedures.
CloseTest
CloseTest is a Windows program for testing capture-recapture data
