Pennsylvania Water Science Center

Data and Tools

USGS Pennsylvania Water Science Center operates about 580 real-time data collection sites in Pennsylvania for acquiring information on surface water, groundwater, water quality, and precipitation. These sites provide near real-time data via satellite communication and these data are provided to the public through the National Water Information System as well as through many USGS web applications.

Water Velocity Magnitude and Direction collected on May 8-9, 2019 at Select Breakwaters in Lake Erie at Presque Isle State Park, Erie, PA

Background: Presque Isle State Park (PISP), located in northwestern Pennsylvania, is located on a 3,127 acre peninsula that extends into Lake Erie. Approximately 7 miles long, PISP is a recurving sand spit where the width of the neck is less than 1,000 feet and the center, eastern end exceeds 1 mile. The park boundary extends 500 feet offshore around the perimeter of the peninsu

Compiled data for groundwater levels, groundwater withdrawals by wells and quarries, and point-source discharges to streams in the vicinity of Willow Grove and Warminster, Bucks and Montgomery Counties, Pennsylvania, for selected years during 1999-2017

This USGS Data Release includes hydrologic data compiled for selected years during the period 1990-2017 to support the development and calibration of a numerical groundwater model used to simulate groundwater flow paths at and near former and currently active military bases in Montgomery and Bucks Counties in southeastern Pennsylvania (Goode and Senior, 2020). The hydrologic data compiled f...

Compilation of data not available in the National Water Information System for domestic wells sampled by the U.S. Geological Survey in Clinton County, Pennsylvania, May-September 2017

This dataset contains the lithologic class and topographic position index information and quality-assurance and quality-control data not available in the online National Water Information System for 54 domestic wells sampled by the U.S. Geological Survey in Clinton County, Pennsylvania, May-September 2017. The topographic position index (TPI) for each well location was computed on the bas

Data in support of Development of Regression Equations for the Estimation of Flood Flows at Ungaged Streams in Pennsylvania

Regression equations, which may be used to estimate flood flows at select annual exceedance probabilities, were developed for ungaged streams in Pennsylvania. The equations were developed using annual peak flow data through water year 2015 and basin characteristics for 285 streamflow gaging stations across Pennsylvania and surrounding states. The streamgages included active and discontinued c...

Drought Streamflow Probabilities in Northeast Region

Maximum likelihood logistic regression (MLLR) is used to estimate drought probabilities for selected Northeast rivers and streams. Winter streamflows are used to estimate the chance of hydrologic drought during summer months. This application allows the display and query of these drought streamflow probabilities for Northeastern streams.

Streamgage Streamflow with Precipitation and Runoff Indication

The datasets herein are the observed instantaneous values of streamflow for the titled U.S. Geological Survey streamgage with precipitation metadata added. Days where streamflow is directly affected by precipitation and the day afterwards is identified with a "B". Two days after a precipitation event is identified with a "C". If the streamflow was affected by snow or ice, the data is
