PFAS, pesticide, and pharmaceutical concentrations in the Bronx River, New York, 2019 (ver. 1.1, January 2023)
This U.S. Geological Survey Data Release provides surface-water and bed sediment quality data at the Bronx River, New York, 2019. The data were collected with support from the Urban Waters Federal Partnership (UWFP) and others. Surface-water samples were collected at six locations along the Bronx River and analyzed for poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), pharmaceuticals, and pesticides. Water-quality field parameters such as pH, specific conductance dissolved oxygen, water temperature, and turbidity were measured during each site visit. Each surface-water site was sampled once under storm (wet) conditions and once under non-storm conditions (dry). 'Wet' samples indicate a precipitation event of 0.5 inch or more that occurred within 48 hours prior to collecting the sample. Bed sediment samples were collected once at two locations along the Bronx River and analyzed for PFAS only. Replicates, field blanks, equipment blanks, source solution blanks, and laboratory-control samples were collected and assessed for quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) purposes. Laboratory-control samples for PFAS include method blanks, isotope dilution standard recoveries, and spikes recoveries.
