Key FEDVIP Facts

  • FEDVIP is separate and different from the FEHB Program

  • Premiums are paid pre-tax – a savings for you!

  • Coverage automatically continues each year unless you cancel

  • No paper form to complete – enroll directly with BENEFEDS

  • You can only cancel coverage during Open Season or due to military deployment

  • You cannot cancel just because you are retiring or can't afford the premiums

  • All nationwide FEDVIP plans provide international coverage

  • Open Season is an annual event that allows changes to FEDVIP

BENEFEDS Customer Service cannot assist with questions about FEDVIP covered benefits and services, ID cards, rating regions, approval of medical information for family members incapable of self-support, provider networks, and claims. You will need to direct these inquiries to the individual dental and vision plans.
