USGS Orientation Program

Welcome Aboard!

Congratulations on your position with the U.S. Geological Survey. We are a diverse and inclusive organization, comprised of hundreds of individuals who bring their unique talents, skills, and experiences to the job.

The New Employee Orientation (NEO) Program rebrands to the USGS Orientation Program ~ Welcome, Inform and Connect.

The USGS Orientation Program is designed to empower our new employees with the information and resources they need to thrive in their first year. It also offers an opportunity for all employees to refresh their understanding of the fundamentals.

We've built a robust hub, designed to serve as a valuable center for information and resources, the USGS Orientation Information and Resource Hub in DOI Talent.

This hub includes:

  • The Navigator Electronic Handbook: a digital compass that helps new employees navigate our complex organization. This valuable handbook is always up to date and is designed to be easily accessible and provide essential information and resources.
  • Orientation Guide: assigned by the supervisor, helps the new employee, “learn the ropes” during their first year. Guides collaboration, offers guidance, resources, and serves as a critical peer link.
  • Live Webinar: offers real-time engagement with experts and a platform for questions and discussions.
  • The Recorded Webinar Library: offers on-demand access to valuable topics for those who miss live webinars or need to revisit key topics.
  • USGS Orientation webpage: another central hub for resources and information.
  • HR Benefits Information webinar: equips qualified new employees with the insights they need to make informed decisions about their benefits.
