Skill-building workshops for researchers on the coproduction of actionable science
Public lands management requires the use of science, but agency staff rarely have time to stay current with all the science on management-relevant topics, especially as articles are published at an ever-increasing rate.
In this new series of learning modules, we aim to provide scientists with essential tools, skills, and strategies for coproducing actionable science products with and for federal land managers to support their decision making.
Through three original learning modules, scientists will learn essential skills for the coproduction of actionable science products with land managers. The objectives of each module are the following:
Module 1 - Science in public lands management. Participants will understand how land managers make decisions during environmental review, how they use science in their decision making, and the challenges of doing so.
Module 2 - Coproducing projects with land managers. Participants will be able to define actionable science and coproduction, assemble a coproduction project team, and plan for product delivery.
Module 3 - Developing actionable science products. Participants will learn about the qualities of actionable science and how to design usable products.
Modules can build off each other, or be used on their own, depending on participant interests, skillsets, and needs.
Want to set up a workshop? Our team is happy to help! We can assist individuals or groups in:
- Drafting tailored workshop materials
- Facilitating workshops
