Landsat 8 Currently in Safehold
On Thursday, January 26, 2023 (DOY 26), an anomaly caused the Landsat 8 spacecraft to enter into a safehold mode. The sensors onboard suspended imaging at 9:38 p.m. CST (DOY 27, 03:38:07z).

The Landsat 8 spacecraft is stable and safe at this time. The USGS/NASA Landsat 8 Flight Operations Team is currently investigating the anomaly and working to return to normal operations in a safe and controlled manner.
The satellite does not acquire image data while in safehold.
Another status will be provided once the total duration for the recovery timeline is determined.
