Oct 3, 2017 - Landsat Pre-Collection Level-1 Dataset Removal Prompts EarthExplorer Changes

Landsat Pre-Collection Level-1 scenes for Landsat 4-5 TM, Landsat 7 ETM+, and Landsat 8 OLI/TIRS are no longer available for download from EarthExplorer. 

These datasets have been reprocessed into the new Landsat Collections inventory structure and are located in the Landsat Collection 1 Level-1 section on the EarthExplorer Data Set tab.

Additionally, Landsat datasets listed in EarthExplorer have been revised (see screenshot below). These changes are:

  • All Landsat-related datasets are now listed under the title ‘Landsat’.
  • All Landsat datasets have been arranged from the highest to the lowest level of scientific processing (i.e., Level-2, Level-1).

  • Collection 1 Higher-Level (On-Demand) datasets have been renamed to Landsat Collection 1 Level-2 (On-demand) (i.e., scene based surface reflectance orders).
