A joint NASA-USGS Architecture Study Team tasked with imagining the future of Landsat will hold its first meeting at the USGS EROS Center this week.

The team aims to understand what the capabilities of future Landsat missions should be, they will learn about relevant government policies, technologies that will be available, as well as commercial and international capabilities. The team will also hear of user’s expectations for temporal frequency, spatial resolution, spectral band combinations and more. In addition to user’s needs, the team will focus on the timeframe, risks, and costs for building a Landsat 10 spacecraft.
