Michigan Bacterological Research Laboratory (MI-BaRL) microbiologist JC Wallace (foreground) and biologist Molly Richard (background) prepare samples for analysis to determine bacteria load and the concentration of E. coli and enterococci. The analysis is part of a project to understand how pesticides widely used in seed treatments influence the species and amount of bacteria present in streams, tap water, and associated with fish and riparian insects.
