Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Aquatic Gap Analysis Project (Aquatic GAP) Aquatic Species Distribution Modeling on the National Hydrography Dataset Plus Version 2.1 (ver. 2.0, December 2024) Aquatic Gap Analysis Project (Aquatic GAP) Aquatic Species Distribution Modeling on the National Hydrography Dataset Plus Version 2.1 (ver. 2.0, December 2024)
This USGS data release contains products that resulted from aquatic species distribution modeling in the United States on the National Hydrography Dataset Plus Version 2.1. Source data, supporting code and model results are documented in this data release. The file species_model_list.csv provides a list of most recent models for each combination of species, habitat, and region.
Coarse Range Maps for Fish Species in the Conterminous United States using HUC8s (ver. 2.0, December 2024) Coarse Range Maps for Fish Species in the Conterminous United States using HUC8s (ver. 2.0, December 2024)
This USGS data release documents coarse ranges for 123 fish species in the conterminous United States for level 8 hydrologic units from the Watershed Boundary Dataset (WBD). These range maps were derived by combining known fish occurrence information from four data sources: point occurrences from the Aquatic Gap Analysis Project (AGAP) fish database, point occurrences from the IchthyMaps...
Dam Metrics Representing Stream Fragmentation and Flow Alteration for the Conterminous United States Linked to the NHDPLUSV2.1 Dam Metrics Representing Stream Fragmentation and Flow Alteration for the Conterminous United States Linked to the NHDPLUSV2.1
This USGS data release includes a comma separated value (CSV) file that contains 19 reach-based dam metrics representing stream fragmentation and flow alteration for nearly 2.3 million stream reaches in the conterminous United States. Dam metrics fall into three main categories: count and density, distance-based, and cumulative reservoir storage (described below). These data were...
Fluvial Fish Native Distributions for the Conterminous United States using the NHDPlusV2.1 and Boosted Regression Tree (BRT) Models Fluvial Fish Native Distributions for the Conterminous United States using the NHDPlusV2.1 and Boosted Regression Tree (BRT) Models
This USGS data release documents species distribution models for 271 fluvial fish species in their native ranges of the conterminous United States. Source data, supporting code and model results are documented in this data package. Boosted Regression Tree (BRT) models were used to develop presence/absence predictions for each of the National Hydrography Dataset Plus Version 2.1 stream...
Presence Absence Database of Fish in the Conterminous United States (ver. 2.0, December 2024) Presence Absence Database of Fish in the Conterminous United States (ver. 2.0, December 2024)
This USGS data release documents presence and absences of 271 fish species in the conterminous United States for 35,918 stream reaches of the National Hydrography Dataset Plus Version2.1 (NHDPlusV2.1). Sample dates for this dataset span 1990-2019. Fish samples were aligned to the Integrated Taxonomic Information System (ITIS), where each species record was assigned a Taxonomic Serial...
xstrm_local xstrm_local
This Python package is intended to assist with summarization of landscape information to stream watershed drainages (local summaries). Methods are built in a generalized way and are intended to support efforts for any stream network having polygon based drainage watersheds. The output of these methods can be used to calculate stream network summaries using xstrm.
National Atmospheric Deposition Program Pollen Study Data for 2021 Pollen Season National Atmospheric Deposition Program Pollen Study Data for 2021 Pollen Season
Pollen was measured in ambient air by several methods and in wet atmospheric deposition samples at three monitoring sites in the National Atmospheric Deposition Program (NADP) National Trends Network. A method for counting pollen on filters was developed and provided pollen counts for NADP atmospheric wet-deposition samples and high-volume ambient air samplers (HVAS) for comparison with...
Metal and other element partitioning in southwest Puerto Rico ultramafic soil, Rio Loco sediment, and Guanica Bay sediment Metal and other element partitioning in southwest Puerto Rico ultramafic soil, Rio Loco sediment, and Guanica Bay sediment
Five-stage sequential extractions were performed on ultramafic soil from Bosque Susua and Guanica Dry Forest, stream sediment from Rios Loco and Yauco, and nearshore sediment from Guanica Bay in southwest Puerto Rico. Sequential extractions showed partitioning of geologically enriched metals and other elements among five phases: 1) adsorbed and calcium-bound, 2) iron-, manganese...
Magnetotelluric Data from the San Andreas Fault, Loma Prieta CA, 1989-1990 Magnetotelluric Data from the San Andreas Fault, Loma Prieta CA, 1989-1990
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Geology, Geophysics and Geochemistry Science Center (GGGSC) collaborated with the USGS Science Analytics and Synthesis (SAS) team to preserve and release a subset of magnetotelluric data from the San Andreas Fault in Loma Prieta, California. The San Andreas Fault data were collected by the Branch of Geophysics, a precursor to the now GGGSC, between 1989...
Geospatial dataset of the bathymetry, hydrodynamics, water quality, infrastructure, and channel condition of the Old Erie Canal from DeWitt to its junction with the current Erie Canal in Verona, near Rome, New York, 2018-19 Geospatial dataset of the bathymetry, hydrodynamics, water quality, infrastructure, and channel condition of the Old Erie Canal from DeWitt to its junction with the current Erie Canal in Verona, near Rome, New York, 2018-19
This data release contains spatial datasets of bathymetry, water velocity, water quality, and infrastructure of a 30.8 mile reach of the Old Erie Canal between the Town of DeWitt and its junction with the current Erie Canal of the New York State Canal System in Verona, near Rome, New York during 2018 and 2019, and is released in support of Open-File Report 2021-1125; Wernly, J.F., 2022
