Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Morphometric parameters, median and maximum concentrations, and percentages of stream lengths through geologic units for 33 tributary drainage basins of the San Juan River watershed in the Four Corners region, United States Morphometric parameters, median and maximum concentrations, and percentages of stream lengths through geologic units for 33 tributary drainage basins of the San Juan River watershed in the Four Corners region, United States

This data release presents data and calculations for morphometric parameters, median and maximum unfiltered concentrations used in statistical analyses, and stream lengths through geologic units that contain elevated concentrations of constituents of concern used for the publication, "Morphometric and geologic characterization with statistical correlations for 33 tributary drainage...

Nearshore bathymetry at Point Barrow, Alaska, 2022 Nearshore bathymetry at Point Barrow, Alaska, 2022

This data release contains nearshore bathymetry measurements collected at Point Barrow, Alaska in July 2022. These data were collected as part of an effort to monitor and forecast coastal flooding and erosion. They are also intended for reuse by scientists, managers, and the general public.

Geochemical and mineralogical data for core and cuttings samples from wells in the Eocene Green River Formation, Uinta Basin, Utah Geochemical and mineralogical data for core and cuttings samples from wells in the Eocene Green River Formation, Uinta Basin, Utah

Bulk organic geochemical, major and trace element, and mineralogical data have been collected for core and cuttings samples of the Eocene Green River Formation from thirty-four wells in the Uinta Basin of Utah. The samples were collected from the U.S. Geological Survey Core Research Center in Denver, CO and the Utah Core Research Center in Salt Lake City, UT and represent multiple...

Data release for integrating remotely sensed surface water dynamics in hydrologic signature modeling Data release for integrating remotely sensed surface water dynamics in hydrologic signature modeling

Variability in river discharge, particularly very high flow and low flow conditions, has far-reaching environmental and economic consequences. The retention of water in surface storage, concentrated in lakes, ponds, wetlands, floodplains, and temporary water in flood prone areas, can potentially contribute to flow generation and flood regulation. However, the impact of surface water...

Determination of the concentration and activity of microcystin-LR and degradants after irradiation with 254 nm and 222 nm UV light with Protein phosphatase 2a inhibition assays and high-resolution mass spectrometry using isotope dilution Determination of the concentration and activity of microcystin-LR and degradants after irradiation with 254 nm and 222 nm UV light with Protein phosphatase 2a inhibition assays and high-resolution mass spectrometry using isotope dilution

Microcystin-LR (MC-LR), a cyanotoxin produced during some harmful algal blooms (HABs), can have negative impacts on water ecosystems. Current treatment methods have potential drawbacks: physical removal can cause cell lysis and toxin release, and chemical treatment can cause disinfection byproducts (DBPs). Ultraviolet C (UV-C) treatment can degrade cyanotoxins without producing...

Topobathymetric digital elevation models - coastal Alaska (ver. 2.0, March 2026) Topobathymetric digital elevation models - coastal Alaska (ver. 2.0, March 2026)

This data release consists of a series of seamless topobathymetric digital elevation models (TBDEMs) for coastal Alaskan communities. Each TBDEM was assembled from best available, multi-source topographic and bathymetric elevation data collected at the time of processing. These products were created to support the development of dynamic flood models, but are also intended for reuse by...

Lake Erie Pelagic Prey Fish Community Data, 2022-2024 Lake Erie Pelagic Prey Fish Community Data, 2022-2024

Since 2005, the U.S. Geological Survey - Great Lakes Science Center's Lake Erie Biological Station (LEBS) has participated in a collaborative, multiagency effort to assess pelagic prey fish populations in the western (WB), central (CB), and eastern (EB) basins of Lake Erie through a combination of hydroacoustic and midwater trawl sampling. Assessing lake-wide distribution and abundance...

In situ field data, Coastal Alaska, 2023 to 2025 In situ field data, Coastal Alaska, 2023 to 2025

These field data such as first floor elevation and bathymetric surveys were collected to support development of coastal mapping products and advance storm response and recovery in Alaskan coastal communities. The data consists of essential community infrastructure elevation data to better understand flood exposure and support analysis of flood mitigation solutions, bathymetric surveys to...

Archive of Digitized Analog Boomer Seismic Reflection Data Collected Offshore of Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida in 1975: MAFLA 1975 Archive of Digitized Analog Boomer Seismic Reflection Data Collected Offshore of Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida in 1975: MAFLA 1975

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Coastal and Marine Hazards and Resources Program has actively collected geophysical and sedimentological data in the northern Gulf of America (Gulf of Mexico) for several decades, including shallow subsurface data in the form of high-resolution seismic reflection profiles (HRSP). Prior to the mid-1990s, most HRSP data were collected in analog format as...

Estimates of Deicing Salt Application across States Encompassing the Delaware River Basin, United States, 2001-2023 Estimates of Deicing Salt Application across States Encompassing the Delaware River Basin, United States, 2001-2023

This data release contains three different estimates of road deicing salt applications, which utilize different sources of deicing salt data, and climate, land cover, and imperviousness data to provide spatially distributed estimates of deicing salt application for states covering the Delaware River Basin from water and calendar years 2001 through 2023 at a 30-meter spatial resolution...

Amplicon sequencing of pollen foraged by multiple bee species in units of the National Park Service, National Capital Region, 2021-2022 Amplicon sequencing of pollen foraged by multiple bee species in units of the National Park Service, National Capital Region, 2021-2022

This study generated genetic 'metabarcode' data using high-throughput sequencing to characterize pollen foraging behavior of pollinating bee species on managed field habitat within units of the National Park Service. Specimens were collected within parks of the National Capital Region from 2021-2023 and subsequently identified to species or genus. DNA was then extracted from specimens...

Amplicon sequencing of pollen foraged by Bombus affinis for compositional analysis, 2021-2023 Amplicon sequencing of pollen foraged by Bombus affinis for compositional analysis, 2021-2023

This study generated genetic 'metabarcode' data using high-throughput sequencing to characterize pollen foraging behavior of the endangered rusty-patched bumblebee, Bombus affinis. Pollen samples were collected primarily from forest meadow habitats in the Appalachian piedmont of the eastern United States, specifically within the states of Virginia and West Virginia. Three additional...
