Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Geochemical data for waters, rocks, sediments and biofilms from Rio Tinto, Spain Geochemical data for waters, rocks, sediments and biofilms from Rio Tinto, Spain

Rio Tinto, Spain, is an example of a fluvial system strongly influenced by acid rock and acid mine drainage. During the spring of 2018 and 2019, samples of stream waters and mine waters, biofilms, sediments and rocks, were collected in the field by Aubrey Zerkle. These samples were analyzed for comprehensive geochemistry, including Cr isotope geochemistry, anions and cations...

Debris-flow and Flood Video Files, Chalk Cliffs, Colorado, USA, 2015 Debris-flow and Flood Video Files, Chalk Cliffs, Colorado, USA, 2015

Chalk Cliffs, located 8 miles southwest of Buena Vista, Colorado, is one of the most active debris-flow areas in the state (U.S. Geological Survey). Three stations were set up at Chalk Cliffs which are located sequentially along a channel draining the 0.3 km2 study area. These stations are equipped with rain gauges, laser distance meters, and data loggers to record rainfall and stage...

Data release for Evidence of glacial activity during MIS 4 in the Rocky Mountains, Colorado, USA Data release for Evidence of glacial activity during MIS 4 in the Rocky Mountains, Colorado, USA

The Ziegler Reservoir fossil site near Snowmass Village, Colorado (USA) provides a rare opportunity to examine environmental conditions in the Rocky Mountains during marine isotope stage (MIS) 4 (71-57 ka). Although recognized as a global-scale cold event, MIS 4 is typically absent from Rocky Mountain glacial chronologies because the geologic evidence was either covered or destroyed...

Public supply, self-supplied domestic, irrigation, and thermoelectric water-use data from 5-year compilation datasets from 1985 to 2015 used to assess data variability and uncertainty Public supply, self-supplied domestic, irrigation, and thermoelectric water-use data from 5-year compilation datasets from 1985 to 2015 used to assess data variability and uncertainty

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Water Use Program is responsible for compiling and disseminating the Nation's water-use data. Working in cooperation with local, State, and Federal agencies, the USGS has published an estimate of water use in the United States every 5 years, beginning in 1950. These 5-year compilations contain water-use estimates that are aggregated to the...

LAMP assay for detection of Asian fish tapeworm LAMP assay for detection of Asian fish tapeworm

Data are relative fluorescent units obtained from the FAM channel of a AmpliFire Isothermal Fluorometer (Agdia, Inc., Elkhart, USA) recorded every 10 sec during as isothermal (LAMP) amplification. The isothermal reaction is to detect the Asian fish tapeworm, Schyzocotyle acheilognathi [syn. Bothriocephalus]. Samples (column headers) are described in tabs and include 1) positive control...
