Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Hydrodynamic, sediment transport, and sediment flocculation data from south San Francisco Bay, California, summer 2020 Hydrodynamic, sediment transport, and sediment flocculation data from south San Francisco Bay, California, summer 2020
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center collected hydrodynamic and suspended sediment flocculation data at channel and shallow water sites in south San Francisco Bay in July 2020. The data were used to determine water column stratification, turbulence profiles, and floc size evolution. The goal of this project was to bound the controls on floc size and...
Grain-size data from core S3-15G, Monterey Fan, Central California Grain-size data from core S3-15G, Monterey Fan, Central California
This data release presents sediment grain-size data from samples collected from core S3-15G, a 4.72-m long gravity core collected at a depth of 3,491 meters on the western levy of the Monterey Fan on May 31, 1978 (USGS Field Activity S-3-78-SC).
Data used to model and map manganese in the Northern Atlantic Coastal Plain aquifer system, eastern USA Data used to model and map manganese in the Northern Atlantic Coastal Plain aquifer system, eastern USA
Data used to model and map manganese concentrations in groundwater in the Northern Atlantic Coastal Plain (NACP) aquifer system, eastern USA, are documented in this data release. The model predicts manganese concentration within four classes and is based on concentration data from 4492 wells. The well data were compiled from U.S. Geological Survey, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency...
Second Iteration of Range Wide Lesser Prairie Chicken Lek Habitat Suitability in 2019, Predicted in Southern Great Plains Second Iteration of Range Wide Lesser Prairie Chicken Lek Habitat Suitability in 2019, Predicted in Southern Great Plains
We developed a second iteration of habitat suitability models for Lesser Prairie Chicken leks, across their range. The first modeling iteration used lek data collected from 2002 to 2012, land cover data ranging from 2001 to 2013, and anthropogenic features from 2011. Our second iteration model used occurrence points from new lek surveys (2015 to 2019) and updated predictor layers to...
Spatial Hydro-Ecological Decision System Summarized Designing Sustainable Landscapes and National Land Cover Database 2001 - 2016 Data for SHEDS Region 2 Spatial Hydro-Ecological Decision System Summarized Designing Sustainable Landscapes and National Land Cover Database 2001 - 2016 Data for SHEDS Region 2
This data release is a summarization of the US Geological Survey National Land Cover Database (NLCD) 2001, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2011, 2013 and 2016 Land Cover datasets and the Landscape Ecology Lab at the University of Massachusetts Designing Sustainable Landscapes (DSL) datasets within the USGS Spatial Hydro-Ecological Decision System (SHEDS) framework. The output is a series of tables...
Geophysical properties, geochronologic, and geochemical data of sediment cores collected from San Pablo Bay, California, October 17-20, 2016 Geophysical properties, geochronologic, and geochemical data of sediment cores collected from San Pablo Bay, California, October 17-20, 2016
Geophysical properties (P-wave velocity, gamma ray density, and magnetic susceptibility), geochronologic (radiocarbon, excess Lead-210, and Cesium-137), and geochemical data (organic carbon content and 60 element contents) are reported for select vibracores collected aboard the S/V Retriever October 17-20, 2016 in San Pablo Bay, California. Geophysical properties were measured with a...
