Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Geochemistry and mineralogy of mill tailings from the Ducktown mining district, Tennessee, USA Geochemistry and mineralogy of mill tailings from the Ducktown mining district, Tennessee, USA
These .csv files contain data on the bulk mineralogy and geochemistry of tailings samples from the Ducktown volcanogenic massive sulfide mining district in Tennessee, USA. The reported geochemistry was collected using inductively-coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy/mass spectrometry (ICP-OES/MS), wavelength-dispersive X-ray fluorescence (WDXRF), lead fire assay-inductively...
Geochemistry, olivine chemistry, microXRF chemical maps, and isotope geochemistry of komatiitic volcanic rocks and U-Pb geochronology of metasedimentary rocks from the Bradley Peak and South Pass greenstone terranes, Wyoming Province Geochemistry, olivine chemistry, microXRF chemical maps, and isotope geochemistry of komatiitic volcanic rocks and U-Pb geochronology of metasedimentary rocks from the Bradley Peak and South Pass greenstone terranes, Wyoming Province
Bradley Peak and South Pass are two ca. 2.7 Ga greenstone terranes in the Archean Wyoming Province, USA that contain mafic-ultramafic metavolcanic rocks. This dataset contains five Comma Separated Value (CSV) files of tabular data, a data dictionary for tabular data (Data_Dictionary.csv), a shapefile with sample locations, and microXRF images. Wholerock_geochemistry.csv includes whole...
Precipitation Runoff Modeling System Rainfall-Runoff Models and Outputs: Historic Observed Runs (1915-2015), Historic Simulated Runs (1950-2005), and Future Simulated Runs (2006-2099) Precipitation Runoff Modeling System Rainfall-Runoff Models and Outputs: Historic Observed Runs (1915-2015), Historic Simulated Runs (1950-2005), and Future Simulated Runs (2006-2099)
This dataset includes the original Precipitation Runoff Modeling System extractions from the USGS, the models that were calibrated to observed historic data, and the Global Circulation Model runs to simulate climate change.
Mountain goats (Oreamnos americanus) in Glacier National Park, Montana, USA, and Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta, Canada, 2008-2023 Mountain goats (Oreamnos americanus) in Glacier National Park, Montana, USA, and Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta, Canada, 2008-2023
Dataset includes a) counts of mountain goats for multiple surveys across 37 sites inside Glacier National Park 2008-2019, along with biotic and abiotic conditions used in analysis of trend including snow, precipitation, temperature, landcover and habituation; b) predicted numbers of goats using each survey area; and c) microsatellite genotypes for goat pellet samples collected 2019-2023...
Validation of gridded precipitation datasets for flood-typing in six basins in the contiguous U.S. Validation of gridded precipitation datasets for flood-typing in six basins in the contiguous U.S.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) are collaborating with the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) on improving flood-frequency analysis methods to account for mixed populations arising from different flood causal mechanisms. Precipitation data at different timescales are widely used in flood-typing studies. Various gridded...
Inputs and outputs of 3D point-cloud comparisons (M3C2) from repeat bathymetric and topographic surveys from 2019 – 2022 of the French Broad River, Asheville, NC Inputs and outputs of 3D point-cloud comparisons (M3C2) from repeat bathymetric and topographic surveys from 2019 – 2022 of the French Broad River, Asheville, NC
This data release provides the input and output datasets used to inform geomorphic change detection (GCD) analyses from repeat streambank and streambed surveys of a one-kilometer reach of the French Broad River (FBR) where the NCDOT initiated a highway widening and bridge construction project in 2020 near Asheville, North Carolina (Whaling, 2023a–d; Whaling and Wagner, 2021; Whaling and...
