Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Debris-flow video files, Chalk Cliffs, Colorado, USA, 2017 Debris-flow video files, Chalk Cliffs, Colorado, USA, 2017
Chalk Cliffs, located 8 miles southwest of Buena Vista, Colorado, is one of the most active debris-flow areas in the state (U.S. Geological Survey). Three stations were set up at Chalk Cliffs which are located sequentially along a channel draining the 0.3 km^2 study area. This data release includes videos of debris-flows and floods captured by high-definition cameras placed at four...
Metal concentrations in sediment and amphibian tissues from wetlands sampled across the United States Metal concentrations in sediment and amphibian tissues from wetlands sampled across the United States
The data presented include concentrations of 10 metals in sediments and composite larval amphibian tissues from 20 wetlands across the United States. Sixteen of the wetlands were sampled in 2019 and four were sampled in 2015-2016. Where possible both larval anurans (frogs and toads) and salamanders were collected from each wetland. The data also include information on metal...
Data release for Assessing the Uncertainties in Climatic Estimates Based on Vegetation Assemblages: Examples from Modern Vegetation Assemblages in the American Southwest Data release for Assessing the Uncertainties in Climatic Estimates Based on Vegetation Assemblages: Examples from Modern Vegetation Assemblages in the American Southwest
This data release includes climatic variables and associated descriptive material created for the purpose of assessing uncertainties associated with climatic estimates based on vegetation assemblages (Thompson and others, 2021). The data are from the interior of the western United States, including all of Arizona, and portions of California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, and Utah...
Surveyed peak-stage elevations, coordinates, and indicator data of strandlines from large floods on the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona Surveyed peak-stage elevations, coordinates, and indicator data of strandlines from large floods on the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona
These data provide a comprehensive survey of peak-stage indicators along the Colorado River corridor between river mile (RM) 0 and RM 87 (see Figure 1 in the associated USGS-SIR). In 2008, the locations of peak-stage indicators in three short reaches downstream from RM 87 were measured using a handheld GPS unit (see Appendix 1 in the associated USGS-SIR). Total-station measurements were...
Hawai'i Island locations of 'Apapane and 'I'iwi from automated radio telemetry tracking system 2014 to 2016 Hawai'i Island locations of 'Apapane and 'I'iwi from automated radio telemetry tracking system 2014 to 2016
We used an automated radio telemetry network to track the movement of two nectivorous Hawaiian honeycreepers, the 'Apapane (Himatione sanguinea) and 'I'iwi (Drepanis coccinea), collecting high temporal and spatial resolution data across the annual cycle. We identify movement syndromes using a multivariate analysis of multiple movement metrics and assessed seasonal changes in movement...
Appendixes and Supplemental Data: Hydraulic Characterization of Carbonate-Rock and Basin-Fill Aquifers near Long Canyon, Goshute Valley, Northeastern Nevada, 2011-2016 Appendixes and Supplemental Data: Hydraulic Characterization of Carbonate-Rock and Basin-Fill Aquifers near Long Canyon, Goshute Valley, Northeastern Nevada, 2011-2016
This USGS data release presents data used to interpret aquifer tests and ultimately characterize the hydraulic properties of carbonate-rock and basin-fill aquifers near Long Canyon, Goshute Valley, northeastern Nevada. The supplemental data consist of 2 child items and 3 attached appendix datasets. The child items are: (1) 2011?2016 Single Well Aquifer Tests: Pumping Schedules, Water...
