Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Ecological Potential Fractional Component Cover Based on Long-Term Satellite Observations Across the Western United States Version 2 Ecological Potential Fractional Component Cover Based on Long-Term Satellite Observations Across the Western United States Version 2
Rangelands have immense inherent spatial and temporal variability, yet assessments of land condition and trends are often assessed relative to the condition of a limited number of representative points or in some cases reference data is lacking. Ecological Potential (EP) data are spatially comprehensive and quantitative baseline for comparison of current rangeland vegetation conditions...
The Landsat 8/9 Long Term Acquisition Plan for Earth’s continental landmasses and near-shore coastal zones, Version 1.0 The Landsat 8/9 Long Term Acquisition Plan for Earth’s continental landmasses and near-shore coastal zones, Version 1.0
Landsat 8 and Landsat 9 Earth imaging acquisitions are guided by their respective Long Term Acquisition Plan (LTAP), that has been established for each satellite observatory. The LTAP is structured around the Worldwide Reference System-2 (WRS-2) grid, which partitions Landsat swath imaging of the Earth into ~185 × 180 km scenes using a path/row notation. These WRS-2 scenes represent the
Geochemical and petrographic data for the Eagle Ford Group of the USGS Gulf Coast 3 (GC-3) drill core and the Mowry Shale of the Oil Mountain 1-16 (OM-1-16) drill core Geochemical and petrographic data for the Eagle Ford Group of the USGS Gulf Coast 3 (GC-3) drill core and the Mowry Shale of the Oil Mountain 1-16 (OM-1-16) drill core
This data release contains geochemical and petrographic data for the Eagle Ford Group in the USGS Gulf Coast #3 (GC-3) core and the Mowry Shale and Frontier Formation in the Nerd Gas Co. Oil Mountain 1-16 (OM-1-16) core. This dataset includes newly generated kerogen elemental chemistry, iron speciation, organic biomarkers, and vitrinite reflectance. This data compliments and is in...
Grand Canyon Dune Atlas Grand Canyon Dune Atlas
These data were compiled to show where significant river-sourced aeolian sediment deposits are present along the Colorado River downstream of Glen Canyon Dam in the Grand Canyon from Lee’s Ferry to the Diamond Creek confluence located 225 miles downstream. These deposits represent 118 active aeolian dunefields and were created by the Grand Canyon Monitoring & Research Center using field...
In situ measurements of water depth collected with acoustic Doppler current profilers and remotely sensed depths acquired with a software-defined radar deployed from an uncrewed aircraft system, Sacramento River, California, September 18-19, 2024 In situ measurements of water depth collected with acoustic Doppler current profilers and remotely sensed depths acquired with a software-defined radar deployed from an uncrewed aircraft system, Sacramento River, California, September 18-19, 2024
A reach of the Sacramento River near Glenn, California, was selected as a field site to test the performance of a software-defined radar (SDRadar) developed by the University of Southern California. The SDRadar can be deployed from an uncrewed aircraft system (UAS) and is designed to measure river depth. This data release contains measurements of river depth collected with two different...
Physical and Biological Monitoring Data Collected from Restored Wetland Units at Shiawassee National Refuge, Saginaw, MI, US (2020) Physical and Biological Monitoring Data Collected from Restored Wetland Units at Shiawassee National Refuge, Saginaw, MI, US (2020)
Data represent physical (water quality) and biological (fish, macroinvertebrate, and vegetation community) collections as indicators for Pool 1A and the Maankiki Marsh North and South units at the Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge in Saginaw, MI, USA. The Maankiki North and South units were recently reconnected to the Shiawassee River in 2018, whereas Pool 1A represents a historically
