Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Site information and compound concentrations for 15 Iowa streams, 2021 Site information and compound concentrations for 15 Iowa streams, 2021

Microplastics, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs), pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs), and pesticides cause unintentional environmental contamination through many pathways in multiple matrices. This statewide, multi-matrix study examined multiple contaminants of global concern (CGCs) in water, bed sediment, and fish to...

Digital GIS data for the Geologic Map of the Beans Cove and Hyndman quadrangles and part of the Fairhope Quadrangle, Bedford County, Pennsylvania from the original map of de Witt, 1974 Digital GIS data for the Geologic Map of the Beans Cove and Hyndman quadrangles and part of the Fairhope Quadrangle, Bedford County, Pennsylvania from the original map of de Witt, 1974

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Data Release provides a digital geospatial database for the bedrock geologic map of the Beans Cove and Hyndman quadrangles and part of the Fairhope quadrangle (de Witt, 1974). Attribute tables and geospatial features (points, lines, and polygons) conform to the Geologic Map Schema (GeMS, 2020) and represent the geologic map as published in the...

Phragmites Adaptive Management Framework (PAMF) participant and model data (2017-2021) Phragmites Adaptive Management Framework (PAMF) participant and model data (2017-2021)

Non-native Phragmites australis is one of the most aggressive plant species invading North America and is managed using a suite of conventional approaches (e.g., herbicide, cutting/crushing, flooding, burning). These management actions are resource intensive and differ in effectiveness, largely because there are uncertainties about how the plant responds to treatment given site-specific...

Field Site Locations from Phragmites Bioherbicide 2024 Field Experiment in Southeast Michigan Field Site Locations from Phragmites Bioherbicide 2024 Field Experiment in Southeast Michigan

This dataset represents the locations of experimental plots that were used during the Phragmites bioherbicide 2024 field experiment, where a novel bio-based formula for herbicide was applied to Phragmites australis to test the efficacy of Phragmites bioherbicide as a tool to control invasive Phragmites. To meet the criteria for selection, a site must have relatively dry soil with no...

Otolith microchemistry for quantifying contributions of tributaries to predators and prey fish in the Upper Mississippi River Otolith microchemistry for quantifying contributions of tributaries to predators and prey fish in the Upper Mississippi River

Laser ablation inductively coupled mass spectrometry was used to quantify Strontium:Calcium of the core of each otolith and classified each fish to a natal origin (i.e., tributary or potential resident). Predator fishes of focus were Bowfin and Largemouth Bass from the Upper Mississippi River (Pools 4, 8, and 13). Any use of trade, firm, or product names is for descriptive purposes only...

Model Estimates of Chlorophyll a and CyanoHABs Occurrence for Select New York State Lakes Model Estimates of Chlorophyll a and CyanoHABs Occurrence for Select New York State Lakes

This data release contains modeled estimates of chlorophyll a concentration and cyanoHAB occurrence for a subset of lakes in New York State. Estimates of chlorophyll a concentration were generated using a random forest model. Estimates of cyanoHAB occurrence were generated based on thresholds derived from bootstrapped logistic regression. All analysis was done in R 4.4.1 (R Core Team...
