Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Dissolved methane and CO2 concentrations and stable carbon isotopes from the coastal Arctic landscape of the Greiner Lake watershed, Nunavut, Canada in June 2022 and June-July 2023 Dissolved methane and CO2 concentrations and stable carbon isotopes from the coastal Arctic landscape of the Greiner Lake watershed, Nunavut, Canada in June 2022 and June-July 2023
A watershed in the coastal Canadian Arctic was sampled for dissolved carbon dioxide and methane concentration and stable carbon (carbon-13) isotopes to trace the transport, production, and consumption of carbon dioxide and methane during the spring thaw across a lake to bay transect. Two field campaigns were conducted in June 2022 and June-July 2023 out of the Canadian High Arctic...
Climate Change Vulnerability Index Release 4.0: Excel Workbook Climate Change Vulnerability Index Release 4.0: Excel Workbook
The Climate Change Vulnerability Index (CCVI) uses a scoring system that integrates a species’ exposure to projected climate change within an assessment area, including sea level rise, and three sets of factors associated with climate change sensitivity, each supported by published studies: 1) species-specific sensitivity and adaptive capacity factors, 2) threat multipliers such as...
Arcata, California, Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) experiment: 2022 M6.4 Ferndale Aftershock Sequence (ver. 3.0, February 2026) Arcata, California, Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) experiment: 2022 M6.4 Ferndale Aftershock Sequence (ver. 3.0, February 2026)
These data are from a Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) experiment in Arcata, CA, that was conducted jointly by the U.S. Geological Survey, Cal Poly Humboldt University, and Luna Inc. A Luna QuantX DAS interrogator was installed in the Arcata Police Station and connected to a fiber owned by Vero Communications that runs from Arcata to Eureka (Figure 1). The interrogator was installed on...
Hawai'i National Hydrologic Model (NHM) application,1980–2021 Hawai'i National Hydrologic Model (NHM) application,1980–2021
This data release contains inputs for and outputs from hydrologic simulations for the Hawai‘i (HI) domain using the Precipitation Runoff Modeling System (PRMS) version 5.2.1.1 for the precalibration, by Hydrologic Response Unit (byHRU) release, and by Point Of Interest Observation (byPOIobs) release using the USGS National Hydrologic Model infrastructure (NHM; Regan and others, 2018)...
Citations in Environmental Assessments Prepared by the Bureau of Land Management in Colorado from 2015-2019 Citations in Environmental Assessments Prepared by the Bureau of Land Management in Colorado from 2015-2019
These data support a study with the purpose of better understanding science and data use in Federal public lands decisions in the United States. To do this, we assessed the number, type, and age of documents cited in 70 Environmental Assessments (EAs) completed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in Colorado from 2015-2019. We focused on the BLM, as they manage the largest area of...
Chemical concentration results for assessment of mixed-organic/inorganic chemical exposures in the southeast United States, beginning 2022 Chemical concentration results for assessment of mixed-organic/inorganic chemical exposures in the southeast United States, beginning 2022
This data release contains the concentration and quality-assurance results for inorganic constituents, organic compounds (volatile organic compounds [VOC], per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances [PFAS], pesticides, and disinfection byproducts [DBP]) collected in tapwater from locations in Alabama and Mississippi. Tapwater samples (11 public supply and 1 private well) were collected on...
Data for Fatal interactions: Pneumonia in bighorn lambs following experimental exposure to carriers of Mycoplasma ovipneumoniae Data for Fatal interactions: Pneumonia in bighorn lambs following experimental exposure to carriers of Mycoplasma ovipneumoniae
We hypothesized that bighorn sheep ewes with chronic nasal Mycoplasma ovipneumoniae carriage are the source of infection that results in fatal lamb pneumonia. We tested this hypothesis in captive bighorn ewes at two study facilities over a 5-year period, by identifying carrier ewes and then comparing lamb fates in groups that did (exposed pens) or did not (non-exposed pens) include one...
2002 Survey of Diamondback Terrapins in the Chesapeake Bay 2002 Survey of Diamondback Terrapins in the Chesapeake Bay
The survey was conducted to assess the distribution of terrapins in the Chesapeake Bay, based on evidence related to nesting. We conducted a survey of the beaches during the nesting season in the summer of 2002. We walked along the shoreline of over 1350 beach segments looking for evidence signifying the presence of terrapins based on nesting activity. These results represent a single...
Results from investigating changes in streamflow seasonality associated with hydroclimatic variability in the north-central United States among three discrete temporal periods, 1946–2020 Results from investigating changes in streamflow seasonality associated with hydroclimatic variability in the north-central United States among three discrete temporal periods, 1946–2020
This data release contains results of a study investigating changes in streamflow seasonality associated with hydroclimatic variability in the north-central United States, including nine States (Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin). Peak-flow records from unregulated U.S. Geological Survey streamgages were used to evaluate...
Fish activity and movement information derived from acoustic monitoring of a restored Lake Erie coastal wetland from 2011-2014 Fish activity and movement information derived from acoustic monitoring of a restored Lake Erie coastal wetland from 2011-2014
These data describe estimates of large-bodied fish activity and their direction of movement with respect to a restored wetland located in Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge, Oak Harbor, Ohio, USA. Acoustic sonar technology was used to monitor fish activity following restoration and reconnection of a hydrologically isolated wetland pool to the wider Lake Erie system. Fish activity was...
Earthquake-Triggered Ground Failure associated with the M9.2 1964 Great Alaska Earthquake Earthquake-Triggered Ground Failure associated with the M9.2 1964 Great Alaska Earthquake
The M9.2 1964 Great Alaska earthquake is the second-largest earthquake in the historical record, the largest in North America, and involved nearly five minutes of shaking (Brocher and others, 2014). The earthquake initiated in the Alaska-Aleutian subduction zone, about 12 km below northern Prince William Sound. The rupture length was about 700 km and generated deep and shallow...
Field Survey Results of Damage and Ground Shaking Intensity in Humboldt, Trinity, and Mendocino Counties Following the 2022 Mw 6.4 Ferndale Earthquake Field Survey Results of Damage and Ground Shaking Intensity in Humboldt, Trinity, and Mendocino Counties Following the 2022 Mw 6.4 Ferndale Earthquake
This data release provides supplementary information supporting our study on seismic intensities, ground motions, and basin amplification during the Mw 6.4 Ferndale, California earthquake of December 20th, 2022. A field survey was conducted between January 9-12 and March 6-9 in 2023 to assess the damage and shaking intensity experienced across the affected areas. During this survey, 17...
