Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Rain measurements in and near the CZU Lightning Complex Fire area, Santa Cruz Mountains, California, 2020 to 2021 Rain measurements in and near the CZU Lightning Complex Fire area, Santa Cruz Mountains, California, 2020 to 2021
The CZU Lightning Complex Fire (hereafter, "CZU Fire") ignited in the Santa Cruz Mountains, California, on August 16, 2020. By the time of full containment on September 22, 2020, the fire had burned 350 km2 (86,510 acres) in Santa Cruz and San Mateo Counties. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) installed four rain gages in and near the CZU Fire burn area to measure rainfall during the post...
Spatial and temporal survey of waterborne myxozoan parasites in the Lake Sammamish watershed, Washington, from 2019 - 2021 Spatial and temporal survey of waterborne myxozoan parasites in the Lake Sammamish watershed, Washington, from 2019 - 2021
There is a fundamental knowledge gap on the distribution, prevalence, intensity, and ecology of salmonid myxozoan parasites in the Lake Sammamish watershed, Washington. To address this knowledge gap, we tested water samples for Ceratonova shasta, Parvicapsula minibicornis and Tetracapsuloides bryosalmonae DNA from 84 sites distributed throughout the Lake Sammamish watershed in fall 2019...
Streamflow and Dissolved Organic Carbon Input Datasets and Model Results Using the Weighted Regressions on Time, Discharge, and Season (WRTDS) Model for Sleepers River W9 in Vermont, 1991 to 2018 (version 2.0, August 2022): U.S. Geological Survey Data Rel Streamflow and Dissolved Organic Carbon Input Datasets and Model Results Using the Weighted Regressions on Time, Discharge, and Season (WRTDS) Model for Sleepers River W9 in Vermont, 1991 to 2018 (version 2.0, August 2022): U.S. Geological Survey Data Rel
This data release supports an analysis of changes in dissolved organic carbon (DOC) concentration and in the slope of the concentration-discharge relation in the Sleepers River Research Watershed W9 near North Danville, Vermont 1991 to 2018. The data release includes pre-processed model inputs and model outputs. W9 is a 40.5 hectares forested sub-watershed of the Sleepers River Research...
Environmental and Vegetation Data from Marsh-Forest Transgression Experiment at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, MD, USA Environmental and Vegetation Data from Marsh-Forest Transgression Experiment at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, MD, USA
We conducted a field experiment at the Moneystump Swamp in the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge in Dorchester, MD, USA to simulate a natural forest disturbance event (e.g., storm-induced flooding) by inducing the death of established trees (coastal loblolly pine, Pinus taeda) at the marsh-upland forest ecotone. There were three treatment components: Cut- where the trees were cut and...
Compilation of Geologic and Seismic Velocity Characteristics at Advanced National Seismic System Strong Motion Accelerometer Sites Compilation of Geologic and Seismic Velocity Characteristics at Advanced National Seismic System Strong Motion Accelerometer Sites
Near-surface site characteristics are critical for accurately modeling ground motion, which in turn influences seismic hazard analysis and design of critical infrastructure. Currently, there are many strong motion accelerometers within the Advanced National Seismic System (ANSS) that are missing this information. We use a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) based framework to intersect...
Dataset for Analyses in Assessment of Runoff Volume Reduction Associated with Soil Amendments Added to Portions of Highway Median-Strip Catchments in Ohio Dataset for Analyses in Assessment of Runoff Volume Reduction Associated with Soil Amendments Added to Portions of Highway Median-Strip Catchments in Ohio
Rainfall and runoff data were collected during non-winter months between 2018 and 2020 at 10 rain gages and 12 calibrated H-flumes located in Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) highway median-strip catchments. The data were used to compute event-based summary statistics of rainfall and runoff. A rainfall-runoff "event" was defined to begin at the time of the first measured rainfall...
Coastal Carolinas Topobathymetric Model: Field Validation Data, 2021 Coastal Carolinas Topobathymetric Model: Field Validation Data, 2021
U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) scientists conducted field data collection efforts between March 8th and 25th, 2021 at four sites along coastal North Carolina and South Carolina using high accuracy surveying technologies. The work was initiated as an effort to validate a topobathymetric digital elevation model (TBDEM) produced for the area that was directly impacted by Hurricane Florence...
San Francisco Bay region 3D seismic velocity model v21.0 San Francisco Bay region 3D seismic velocity model v21.0
This three-dimensional (3D) seismic velocity model includes a detailed domain covering the greater San Francisco Bay urban region and a regional domain at a coarser resolution covering a larger region. Version 21.0 is a re-release of v08.3.0 in a new storage scheme. The model was constructed by assigning elastic properties (density, Vp, Vs, Qp, and Qs) to grids of points based on the...
San Francisco Bay region 3D seismic velocity model v21.1 San Francisco Bay region 3D seismic velocity model v21.1
This three-dimensional (3D) seismic velocity model includes a detailed domain covering the greater San Francisco Bay urban region and a regional domain at a coarser resolution covering a larger region. Version 21.1 updates only the detailed domain with adjustments to the elastic properties east and north of the San Francisco Bay. There are no changes to the underlying 3D geologic model...
Airborne Geophysical Survey Inventory of the Conterminous United States, Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico (ver. 5.0, April 2024) Airborne Geophysical Survey Inventory of the Conterminous United States, Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico (ver. 5.0, April 2024)
This data release is a compilation of the locations of airborne geophysical surveys in the United States. The inventory documents public airborne geophysical surveys primarily flown by or contracted by the USGS from 1943 to present. In addition, surveys from the State of Alaska, Department of Natural Resources, Division of Geological and Geophysical Surveys (DGGS): Airborne GeophysWeb...
Central South Dakota Airborne Lidar Validation - Field Survey Data Central South Dakota Airborne Lidar Validation - Field Survey Data
U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) scientists conducted field data collection efforts during the time periods of April 25 - 26, 2017, October 24 - 28, 2017, and July 25 - 26, 2018, using a combination of surveying technologies to map and validate topography, structures, and other features at five sites in central South Dakota. The five sites included the Chamberlain Explorers Athletic Complex...
