Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Daily reference and potential evapotranspiration, and supporting meteorological, solar insolation, and blue-sky albedo, Florida, 2019 Daily reference and potential evapotranspiration, and supporting meteorological, solar insolation, and blue-sky albedo, Florida, 2019

Potential evapotranspiration (PET), and reference evapotranspiration (ETo) are estimated at an approximately 2-kilometer (approximately 0.019 degrees longitude and 0.018 degrees latitude) spatial grid and daily time-scale from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019 for the entire State of Florida. PET and ETo were computed on the basis of solar radiation, meteorological data (minimum...

Synthetic streamflow regressions and daily mean streamflow estimates at three sites on the Yankee Fork Salmon River near Clayton, ID, Water Years 2012-2019 Synthetic streamflow regressions and daily mean streamflow estimates at three sites on the Yankee Fork Salmon River near Clayton, ID, Water Years 2012-2019

To provide daily mean streamflow values at ungaged (partial-record) sites within the Yankee Fork Salmon River watershed, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, used discharge measurements at three partial-record sites and related those measurements to a nearby USGS real-time streamgage (index site). Daily mean streamflow was estimated by...

Whole-rock chemistry of Hole G core samples from the San Andreas Fault Observatory at Depth (SAFOD), California Whole-rock chemistry of Hole G core samples from the San Andreas Fault Observatory at Depth (SAFOD), California

We present whole-rock geochemical analyses of 27 Phase 3 core samples obtained from Hole G of the San Andreas Fault Observatory at Depth, which crosses the creeping section of the San Andreas Fault ~14 km NW of Parkfield, California. These new data will essentially double the published whole-rock chemical dataset for the SAFOD Hole G core. Two, meters-wide zones of foliated gouge where...

Data on the Enrichment and Isolation of the Acetylenotrophic and Diazotrophic Isolate Bradyrhizobium sp. strain I71 (ver 2.0, September 2022) Data on the Enrichment and Isolation of the Acetylenotrophic and Diazotrophic Isolate Bradyrhizobium sp. strain I71 (ver 2.0, September 2022)

Acetylene (C2H2) is a molecule rarely found in nature, with few known natural sources, but acetylenotrophic microorganisms can use acetylene as their primary carbon and energy source. As of 2018 there were 15 known strains of aerobic and anaerobic acetylenotrophs, however we hypothesized that there may be yet unrecognized diversity of acetylenotrophs in nature. In this study, we expanded...

USGS National and Global Oil and Gas Assessment Project - Northern Alaska Province, Western North Slope Assessment Unit Boundaries and Assessment Input Data Forms USGS National and Global Oil and Gas Assessment Project - Northern Alaska Province, Western North Slope Assessment Unit Boundaries and Assessment Input Data Forms

This data release contains the boundaries of assessment units and input data for the assessment of undiscovered oil and gas resources of strata older than the Torok Formation of the Western North Slope in the Northern Alaska province. The Assessment Unit is the fundamental unit used in the National Assessment Project for the assessment of undiscovered oil and gas resources. The...

Glaciers of Glacier National Park Repeat Photography Collection Glaciers of Glacier National Park Repeat Photography Collection

The “Glaciers of Glacier National Park Repeat Photography Collection” is a compilation of photographs documenting the retreat of glaciers in Glacier National Park, Montana, U.S.A. (GNP) through repeat photography. The collection is comprised of 58 image pairs, resulting from twenty-two years of U.S.Geological Survey (USGS) field excursions (1997-2019) for the purpose of photographically

High-resolution geophysical and geological data collected in Little Egg Inlet and offshore the southern end of Long Beach Island, NJ, during USGS Field Activities 2018-001-FA and 2018-049-FA High-resolution geophysical and geological data collected in Little Egg Inlet and offshore the southern end of Long Beach Island, NJ, during USGS Field Activities 2018-001-FA and 2018-049-FA

The natural resiliency of the New Jersey barrier island system, and the efficacy of management efforts to reduce vulnerability, depends on the ability of the system to recover and maintain equilibrium in response to storms and persistent coastal change. This resiliency is largely dependent on the availability of sand in the beach system. In an effort to better understand the system's...

High-water mark data from Hurricane Sandy for the coastal areas of Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts, October 29-30, 2012 High-water mark data from Hurricane Sandy for the coastal areas of Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts, October 29-30, 2012

High-water marks were collected following Hurricane Sandy, October 29-30, 2012, along the coastal areas of Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. Information on 371 high-water marks that were flagged following Hurricane Sandy is presented in this data release. The general information on the high-water marks presented includes site identification number, location, elevation...

Flood-Inundation Grids and Shapefiles for the Lower Pawcatuck River in Westerly, Rhode Island, and Stonington and North Stonington, Connecticut Flood-Inundation Grids and Shapefiles for the Lower Pawcatuck River in Westerly, Rhode Island, and Stonington and North Stonington, Connecticut

A series of 11 digital flood-inundation maps were developed for a 5.5 mile reach of the Pawcatuck River in Westerly, Rhode Island and Stonington and North Stonington, Connecticut by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Town of Westerly, Rhode Island and the Rhode Island Office of Housing and Community Development. The coverage of the maps extends from downstream from the...

Flood Inundation Grids and Shapefiles for the Pawtuxet River in West Warwick, Warwick, and Cranston, Rhode Island Flood Inundation Grids and Shapefiles for the Pawtuxet River in West Warwick, Warwick, and Cranston, Rhode Island

A series of 15 digital flood-inundation shapefiles and grids were developed for a 10.2 mile reach of the Pawtuxet River in West Warwick, Warwick, and Cranston, Rhode Island by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The coverage of the maps extends from downstream of Natick Pond Dam near State Route 33...
