National Vegetation Classification Standard

The National Vegetation Classification (NVC) is your guide to inventorying plant communities. The standard allows users to produce uniform statistics about vegetation resources across the nation. CSAS&L actively participates in the development of this important standard through our involvement with the FGDC Vegetation Subcommittee and the ESA Vegetation Panel.

Emergency Assessment of Post-Fire Debris-Flow Hazards

We conduct post-fire debris-flow hazard assessments for select fires in the Western U.S. We use geospatial data related to basin morphometry, burn severity, soil properties, and rainfall characteristics to estimate the probability and volume of debris flows that may occur in response to a design storm.

Grand Lake Data Viewer

Grand Lake Data Viewer - View topographic and bathymetric contour data and simulate Grand Lake inundation areas for selected water-surface elevations. Funding partners: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Grand River Dam Authority, and Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Geospatial Data Gateway

Natural resources and environmental data, including orthoimagery, hydrologic, and cartographic data.

StreamStats in Oklahoma

Delineate custom drainage basins, compute basin characteristics, and estimate streamflow statistics. Funding partners: Oklahoma Department of Transportation and Oklahoma Water Resources Board

Eastern United States 2002 Nutrient Loading

The U.S. Geological Survey applied the SPARROW model to assess the loads delivered in 2002 for estuaries and coastal waters along the Atlantic Ocean and eastern Gulf of Mexico.

Alkalinity Calculator

The Alkalinity Calculator will analyze the titration curve and calculate the alkalinity or acid neutralizing capacity (ANC) of the sample using one or more of several different methods. Alkalinity is for filtered samples, while ANC is for unfiltered samples. The results will be displayed in tabular and graphical form.

Groundwater Recharge in Pennsylvania

A map app to get recharge values from streamgage locations in Pennsylvania. Development of this app is described at the Related Science page.

Oil Shale Data Downloads

This page accesses data for Oil Shale Assessments of PIceance, Uinta and Green River Basins. It also includes fischer assays and scans of well logs in the Colorado Piceance Basin.

Flood Database for Colorado

An easy-to-use, Web-based geodatabase of historical flood and paleoflood information which includes links to sources of flood data. The interface makes this collection of information useful to water-resource managers to better understand the historic events for improved flood-frequency estimates of the largest floods in Colorado.

Flood high and low flows for Oklahoma

View flooding high and low flows for streams and rivers throughout Oklahoma on the USGS WaterWatch website.

Arkansas River and Fountain Creek Water Quality Dashboard

Web based application to compare, on a real-time basis, estimated dissolved-solids concentration and load as a surrogate for water-quality conditions in the Arkansas River and Fountain Creek in Colorado and determine whether future water-quality conditions are significantly different from background conditions.
