Bathymetric data for the Upper Mississippi River System Bathymetric data for the Upper Mississippi River System
Bathymetric data are collected with an automatic survey system and processed in a Geographical Information System (GIS). Through interpolation the individual points of water depth are converted into a water depth map.
Upper Mississippi River - Land Water Shape Files Upper Mississippi River - Land Water Shape Files
Land/water is one of the classification attributes in the land cover/use data sets created by UMESC from aerial photography. These data are redistributed here as shape files with the boundaries of the region's 1:24,000-scale USGS quadrangles added to the data.
LTRM Spatial Data Query Tool LTRM Spatial Data Query Tool
The Upper Mississippi River Restoration (UMRR) Program Long Term Resource Monitoring (LTRM) element has collected millions of records of information over 20+ years. Fisheries, water quality, vegetation, and invertebrates have all been sampled. Geographic locations were collected for all sampling points.
National Water Information System (NWIS) - New York National Water Information System (NWIS) - New York
This mapper provides access to over 1.5 million sites contained in the USGS National Water Information System (NWIS), including sites where surface-water, groundwater, springs, and atmospheric data has been collected.
Upper Mississippi River System Historic Map Viewer Upper Mississippi River System Historic Map Viewer
This tool allows the user to view several scanned and georeferenced historic map image mosaics. Data is available for viewing by selecting the layer list button described below, and checking the boxes next to the data layers of interest. There are other tools that allow map creation, distance and area measurements, and drawing tools.
iCoast iCoast
Help scientists at the U.S. Geological Survey annotate aerial photographs with keyword tags to identify changes to the coast after extreme storms.
Streamflow Statistics Streamflow Statistics
Streamflow statistics for the state of Kansas.
Oahu Tsunami Evacuation Dashboard Oahu Tsunami Evacuation Dashboard
Tsunami waves created by earthquakes far from Hawai’i arrive hours later along Hawaiian shorelines but can be difficult to escape if everyone uses their cars to evacuate. Working with the Hawai’i Emergency Management Agency, researchers with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) used computer modeling to identify areas where people should be able to evacuate on foot in less than 15 minutes.
Earthquake-Triggered Ground-Failure Inventories Earthquake-Triggered Ground-Failure Inventories
Earthquake-triggered ground-failure, such as landsliding and liquefaction, can contribute significantly to losses, but our current ability to accurately include them in earthquake hazard analyses is limited.
Coastal Change Hazards Portal Coastal Change Hazards Portal
Interactive access to coastal change science and data for our Nation’s coasts. Information and products are organized within three coastal change hazard themes: 1) extreme storms, 2) shoreline change, and 3) sea-level rise. Displays probabilities of coastal erosion.
