Career History and Highlights: Steve Labahn has been active in project management and systems engineering on numerous complex remote sensing, digital video, cloud, and other information technology (IT) projects since 1990. Labahn began his career with a local Sioux Falls company managing and designing high-end electronic test equipment, implementing computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing/computer aided-engineering systems and was the IT manager before arriving at EROS in 1999. As a USGS contractor, Labahn worked as a Systems Engineer for the Landsat 7 program through launch and its early operational days, then continued his career as the Landsat Ground System Manager. In 2007, Labahn moved into a USGS civil servant role as the Landsat International Ground Station Network Manager and became the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS) Manager in 2013 as well as the Land Surface Imaging Virtual Constellation (LSI-VC) Co-Lead role in 2018. In 2017, Labahn took on the role as the LSDS Science Information System (LSIS) Manager, the Land Change Monitoring, Assessment, & Projection (LCMAP) Manager in 2020, and the International Partnerships Manager role in 2021. Labahn specializes in international strategies and relations as well as program and project management activities.
