Data

Hydrologic data collection, processing, analysis, dissemination, and archiving are major parts of the MD-DE-DC Water Science Center program. Much of the data are available on a near-real-time basis by satellite telemetry.

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols.

Animal Best Management Practice by Chesapeake Bay Watershed Region From 1985 to 2014 Animal Best Management Practice by Chesapeake Bay Watershed Region From 1985 to 2014

This metadata record covers 18 comma delimited files that support the USGS Scientific Investigations Report Manure and Fertilizer Inputs to Land in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed, 1950-2014 by Jennifer Keisman, Olivia Devereux, Andrew LaMotte, and Andrew Sekellick. The data were created by running scenarios through the Chesapeake Bay Program Partnership Phase 5.3.2 Watershed Model for...

Sediment Source Assessment Tool (Sed_SAT) Sediment Source Assessment Tool (Sed_SAT)

A sound understanding of sources contributing to instream sediment flux in a watershed is important when developing total maximum daily load (TMDL) management strategies designed to reduce suspended sediment in streams. Sediment fingerprinting and sediment budget approaches are two techniques, that when used jointly, can qualify and quantify the major sources of sediment in a given...

Bootstrap-estimated land-to-water coefficients from the CBTN_v4 SPARROW model Bootstrap-estimated land-to-water coefficients from the CBTN_v4 SPARROW model

This file contains 200 sets of bootstrap-estimated land-to-water coefficients from the CBTN_v4 SPARROW model, which is documented in USGS Scientific Investigations Report 2011-5167. The coefficients were produced as part of CBTN_v4 model calibration to provide information about the uncertainty in model estimates.

Surface-Water Data for Delaware Surface-Water Data for Delaware

Real-time, daily, peak-flow, field measurements, and statistics of current and historical data that describe stream levels, streamflow (discharge), reservoir and lake levels, surface-water quality, and rainfall in Maryland.

Groundwater Data for Delaware Groundwater Data for Delaware

Data from wells, springs, and other groundwater sources in Delaware; well location data includes information such as latitude and longitude, well depth, and aquifer. Groundwater level data are collected and stored as either discrete field-water-level measurements or as continuous time-series data from automated recorders.

Water Quality Data for Maryland Water Quality Data for Maryland

Chemical, physical, and biological properties of water, sediment from Maryland, Delaware, and Washington DC sources. Water-quality data are collected as either discrete field measurements or as continuous time-series data from automated recorders that continuously record physical and chemical characteristics including pH, specific conductance, temperature, and dissolved oxygen.

Groundwater Data for Maryland Groundwater Data for Maryland

Data from wells, springs, and other groundwater sources in Maryland; well location data includes information such as latitude and longitude, well depth, and aquifer. Groundwater level data are collected and stored as either discrete field-water-level measurements or as continuous time-series data from automated recorders.

Real-time, daily, peak-flow, field measurements, and statistics of current and historical data that describe stream levels, streamflow (discharge), reservoir and lake levels, surface-water quality, and rainfall in Maryland.

County Boundaries for Selected Items from the Census of Agriculture, 1950-2012 (COA_STCOFIPS) County Boundaries for Selected Items from the Census of Agriculture, 1950-2012 (COA_STCOFIPS)

This polygon shapefile provides county or county-equivalent boundaries for the conterminous United States and was created specifically for use with the data tables published as Selected Items from the Census of Agriculture for the Conterminous United States, 1950-2012 (LaMotte, 2015). This data layer is a modified version of Historic Counties for the 2000 Census of Population and Housing...

Annual Winter-Spring Nitrogen Loadings for the Susquehanna and Potomac Rivers, 1985 to 2016 Annual Winter-Spring Nitrogen Loadings for the Susquehanna and Potomac Rivers, 1985 to 2016

Stations Analyzed are 01578310 - SUSQUEHANNA RIVER AT CONOWINGO, MD and 01646580 - POTOMAC RIVER AT CHAIN BRIDGE NEAR WASHINGTON, DC. Spring nitrogen loads as measured at the Susquehanna River at Conowingo Maryland and Potomac River at Washington, D.C. have been determined to be an effective indicator of summer anoxic and hypoxic volume in Chesapeake Bay. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS...

Thickness of the Surficial Aquifer, Delmarva Peninsula, Maryland and Delaware Thickness of the Surficial Aquifer, Delmarva Peninsula, Maryland and Delaware

This map is a digital map of the thickness of the surficial unconfined aquifer and was produced to improve understanding of the hydrologic system and the potential for transport of soluble nutrients and other chemicals from groundwater to streams in the Maryland and Delaware portions of the Delmarva Peninsula. The map is intended to be used in conjunction with other environmental...
