qPCR Results for An Assessment of Pathogens in National Park Hot Springs qPCR Results for An Assessment of Pathogens in National Park Hot Springs
In 2018 and 2019, a multidisciplinary team from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), National Park Service, The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization, Montana State University’s Department of Microbiology and Immunology, and the Teton Conservation District, initiated a study to document the presence or absence of Naegleria fowleri, Giardia, Escherichia coli, and
Mercury Stable Isotope Assessment of Dragonflies and Fish Tissues across United States National Parks Mercury Stable Isotope Assessment of Dragonflies and Fish Tissues across United States National Parks
This dataset details mercury (Hg) stable isotope values in dragonflies and fish tissues collected across U.S. National Parks. Dragonfly samples were collected as part of the Dragonfly Mercury Project (https://geonarrative.usgs.gov/dmp/), a citizen science project focused on using dragonfly larvae as biosentinels for Hg bioaccumulation. Fish were collected as part of separate park-wide...
Abundance, Biomass, and Density Data for Fishes and Amphipods in Prairie Pothole Region Wetlands in 2019 and 2020 Abundance, Biomass, and Density Data for Fishes and Amphipods in Prairie Pothole Region Wetlands in 2019 and 2020
This dataset includes information from 59 prairie pothole wetlands in Minnesota, collected in 2019 and 2020. The data includes wetland characteristics (e.g., size, depth, plant biomass, and water quality), multiple fish metrics, and multiple amphipod metrics. The amphipod species include Gammarus lacustris and Hyalella azteca. There are 22 species of fish recorded.
Example application of MetaIPM to the Illinois River v2.0 Example application of MetaIPM to the Illinois River v2.0
This repository contains an example application of the Meta-IPM Python package (https://doi.org/10.5066/P9427H6M). The specific application focuses on the Illinois River using existing public data. The code for this project assumes the reader is familiar with Jupyter Notebooks, enough Conda and Python to install the Meta-IPM package, and population ecology. The example also assumes the...
MetaIPM: A Meta-population Integral Projection Model v 2.0 MetaIPM: A Meta-population Integral Projection Model v 2.0
MetaIPM is a Python package (Python Software Foundation 2020) that models meta-population dynamics and continuous growth rates via an integral projection model (IPM) for species living in distinct habitat patches. The package stems from a model that compares invasive carp population control strategies (Erickson et al. 2018). For example, Erickson et al. (2017) used an R predecessor...
Floodplain Inundation Model and Inundation Depths: Upper Mississippi and Illinois Rivers Floodplain Inundation Model and Inundation Depths: Upper Mississippi and Illinois Rivers
Floodplain inundation is believed to be the dominant physical driver of an array of ecosystem patterns and processes in the Upper Mississippi River System (UMRS), which comprises the Upper Mississippi and Illinois Rivers. Here, we present a series of related data products supporting floodplain inundation modeling of the UMRS. First, raster files comprise a unique identifier, river mile...
Nutrient and sediment concentrations, loads, yields, and rainfall characteristics collected at a USGS subsurface-tile edge-of-field agricultural monitoring site in South Central Michigan within the Maumee River Basin, 2019-2023 Nutrient and sediment concentrations, loads, yields, and rainfall characteristics collected at a USGS subsurface-tile edge-of-field agricultural monitoring site in South Central Michigan within the Maumee River Basin, 2019-2023
This data release contains nutrient and sediment concentrations, loads, and yields from a USGS subsurface-tile edge-of-field (EOF) agricultural monitoring site. Sampling and flow monitoring were performed at the outlet of a subsurface-tile that drains 14.7 acres of cultivated cropland. The site is located in South Central Michigan and discharges into a headwater stream of the Maumee...
Model Archive for an Impulse Response Emulator of Groundwater Contaminant Transport Models Model Archive for an Impulse Response Emulator of Groundwater Contaminant Transport Models
This archive contains the code and other files to demonstrate the creation and application of an impulse-response emulator for process-based groundwater flow and transport models in MODFLOW/MT3D. This includes creating a synthetic modeling environment in MODFLOW/MT3D, using PEST++ to derive an impulse-response (A) matrix (as described in White et al., 2020), using this A matrix to create...
Remedy effectiveness at Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) sites Remedy effectiveness at Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) sites
Tree swallow egg and nestling concentrations of total PCBs and accumulation rate (ug of total PCBs accumulated per day) from 10 sites across the US Great Lakes at sites with different dredging histories..
Sampling site, water quality, and fish community data from multi-agency monitoring of the Illinois Waterway response to lock and dam closures, 2019-2021 Sampling site, water quality, and fish community data from multi-agency monitoring of the Illinois Waterway response to lock and dam closures, 2019-2021
Lock and dam closures along the Illinois Waterway occurred in summer of 2020, resulting in a prolonged reduction in traffic of large vessels along the Waterway. To study the response of Illinois Waterway water quality and fish community, ongoing water quality and fish Long Term Resource Monitoring (LTRMP) elements of the Upper Mississippi River Restoration program were expanded from the...
Microbial source tracking for streams in Scott County, Iowa, 2023 Microbial source tracking for streams in Scott County, Iowa, 2023
Surface water samples (n = 33) were collected in fall of 2023 at stream sites in Scott County Iowa, USA and were analyzed for microbial source tracking markers by quantitative polymerase chain reaction at the Laboratory for Infectious Disease and the Environment (LIDE). Microbial source tracking markers identify fecal sources of contamination by detecting microbes that are specific to...
