Using Video Imagery to Study Storm Events at Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge

Two video cameras were temporarily mounted on a dune at Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

The cameras imaged the southern DUNEX (DUring Nearshore Event eXperiment) experiment site until late October of 2021, and were designed to have a stereo view of the beach and potential overwash path. Instruments from the USGS and collaborators are visible in the images. This study is part of DUNEX, involving a large group of researchers from Federal, academic, and non-governmental organizations.

Learn more about the overall DUNEX experiment and about the DUNEX Pea Island Experiment. The research is being conducted under National Fish and Wildlife Survey permits 2020-022R and 2021-021R, and National Park Service permits CAHA-2020-SCI-0014 and CAHA-2020-SCI-0016.
