Episode 6 of the Halemaʻumaʻu eruption continues at 8:15 a.m. HST this morning, January 25. Fountain heights are down to 50-100 ft from the maximum of more than 150 ft. The second lava channel stopped around 3:30 a.m. HST.

The north vent continues to erupt with 2 channels fed by fountains at least 150 feet (50 m) high. A small dome fountain began in the south vent around 12:30 a.m. on January 25, about 1 hour after episode 6 began.

Episode 6 of the Halemaʻumaʻu eruption began at about 11:28 p.m. HST. Continuous small dome fountains about 10-20 ft. high are feeding a short lava flow.

Small, sporadic spatter bursts began from the North vent around 6 p.m. HST on January 24. At 9:15 p.m. spatter continues but has increased in frequency and intensity. Episode 6 has not started, but eruptive activity could resume soon.

Episode 5 of the Kīlauea summit eruption within Halemaʻumaʻu paused Thursday morning, January 23, at 4:30 a.m. HST. Resumption of eruptive activity is possible within days if summit inflation continues at current rate.
