Kilauea Message 2025-03-19 02:11:42 HST
A third small tongue of sluggish lava overflowed the south vent from 1:57 to 2:01 am HST on March 19. This flow extended about 50 feet or 15 meters from the south vent. Occasional spatter bursts have been observed in the north vent.

Two small lava flows emerged from the south vent, one around midnight and the other around 1:00 am HST on March 19. The flows were short lived, lasting only about 5 minutes each and traveled only 15-30 feet (5-10 meters) from the vent.

On Friday, March 14, 5:25 p.m. HST, a M4.4 earthquake occurred 34 mi (55 km) west of Hawaiian Ocean View Estates, Island of Hawaiʻi, at a depth of 22 mi (36 km) below sea level. Shaking was moderate and widely felt, no damage expected.

Episode 13 ended at 3:13 pm HST on March 11 when the south vent shut down. The north vent shut down 2 minutes earlier at 3:11 pm HST. Small amounts of lava drained from the south vent for a few minutes after fountaining stopped.

Episode 13 lava fountaining continues from both vents at 12:45 pm HST on March 11. Fountain heights from the south vent are 425 ft (130 m) and 260 ft (80 m) from the north vent. Lava has covered more than 60% of Halemaʻumaʻu crater floor.

Overnight the fountain heights from both the north and south vent became roughly equal and are 500 feet high or more at dawn (6:40 am HST) on March 11.

North vent fountains reached heights over 600 feet (180 meters) by 3:50 am HST March 11 and fountains from the south vent are about half of that height. Lava flows from both vents have covered more than 30% of Halemaʻumaʻu crater floor.

Episode 13 began at 2:36 am HST March 11 with small flows from the north vent. Within 10 minutes high foutains began and by 3:05 am HST high fountains from the north vent were 300 feet high (100 meters).

HVO field volcanologists reported low spattering from a small cone built within the north vent cone today at 1:30 pm HST March 10. Occasional, small spatter burst can be seen on the streaming V1 camera starting at 6:35 pm HST.

Episode 12 of the ongoing Halemaʻumaʻu eruption ended at 10:37 am HST just after fountaining stopped at 10:35 am HST on March 5. The continuous part of this eruption lasted for just under 22 hours before pausing.

Eruptive activity from the south vent began to increase at around 8:00 am HST March 5 after decreasing overnight. At 8:42 a.m. HST March 5 the north vent began erupting again after 12 hours of inactivity.
