Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Population viability assessment of native fish species in the Pacific Northwest accounting for instream conditions of water temperature and streamflow permanence Population viability assessment of native fish species in the Pacific Northwest accounting for instream conditions of water temperature and streamflow permanence

This data release contains geospatial representations of population viability analysis (PVA) of 23 species of Pacific Northwest non-salmonid fishes. The analysis evaluated long term species persistence (~100 years) based on species distribution models that combined 1) modeled climate, 2) instream conditions, and 3) presence/absence fish data based on species needs and current climate...

Species distribution models and model performance evaluations of twenty-four fishes native to Pacific Northwest US Species distribution models and model performance evaluations of twenty-four fishes native to Pacific Northwest US

This data release provides spatial data for species distribution models developed for 24 stream fishes native to the Pacific Northwest, USA and associated model evaluation metrics used to determine the best supported model. These models support a larger analysis for understanding native stream fish vulnerability in the region, specifically population viability analyses built to determine...

Pesticide Concentrations Measured During In-Situ Active Water Sampler Testing in Solano County, California, 2023 Pesticide Concentrations Measured During In-Situ Active Water Sampler Testing in Solano County, California, 2023

A novel U.S. Geological Survey-developed active water sampler was deployed at Ulatis Creek in Solano County, California for 24 hours from November 15, 2023 to November 16, 2023. Discrete surface water samples were collected at the start and end points of the active water sampler deployment interval for comparison to the active water sampler. Samples from the active water sampler and the...

Pesticide concentrations in multiple stream matrices collected near Mead, Nebraska, 2022 Pesticide concentrations in multiple stream matrices collected near Mead, Nebraska, 2022

The AltEn bioenergy plant (Mead, Nebraska, USA) previously (2015 to 2021) generated ethanol from almost 100% unused/expired treated corn seeds. This use of treated corn seeds as a feedstock for ethanol production resulted in accumulation of large amounts of contaminated wastewater and solid residue at the plant, a portion of which was applied to surrounding farmland. To better understand...

LUCAS model estimates of forest ecosystem carbon dynamics in California under different initial conditions scenarios LUCAS model estimates of forest ecosystem carbon dynamics in California under different initial conditions scenarios

This dataset provides tabular data output from a series of modeling simulations for forest ecosystems of the U.S. state of California under different initial conditions scenarios. We used the LUCAS state and transition simulation model with carbon stocks and fluxes based on the Carbon Budget Model of the Canadian Forest Sector (CBM-CFS3) to simulate changes in forest ecosystem carbon...

Examining the soundscape at a navigational lock (Lock 19, Keokuk, IA) Examining the soundscape at a navigational lock (Lock 19, Keokuk, IA)

In this study, passive acoustic monitoring was conducted at Lock No. 19 near Keokuk, Iowa on the Upper Mississippi River between 20 June – 26 August 2019 to coincide with peak navigation use. Sound pressure levels were calculated from .wav files collected with passive SoundTrap hydrophones at six locations in the downstream lock approach. This data set consists of the location and...

Geochemical and Mineralogical Data from Legacy Mine Land Sites in Central Colorado, 2019 - 2020 Geochemical and Mineralogical Data from Legacy Mine Land Sites in Central Colorado, 2019 - 2020

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release contains data from stream water, groundwater/springs, and sediment samples collected from legacy mine land (LML) sites in central Colorado. The sites were selected using a GIS-based approach that integrated regional geological and geochemical datasets with known mine features and satellite data identifying hydrothermal alteration (ASTER) to...

Impacts of bird predation on the detection of acoustic telemetry tags in fish Impacts of bird predation on the detection of acoustic telemetry tags in fish

Note: this data release has been superseded by version 2.0, available here: https://doi.org/10.5066/P14P7RT6. This data release contains the methodology and results of two field experiments performed in 2024 to better understand how predation impacts detection efficiency of acoustic tags. The first experiment was a static approach focusing on how different tag types, tag power, depth...

Repeat microgravity data from Rio Rancho, New Mexico, 2019-2023 Repeat microgravity data from Rio Rancho, New Mexico, 2019-2023

This dataset represents the network-adjusted results of relative- and absolute-gravity surveys performed from 2019 to 2023 in Rio Rancho and Bernalillo County, New Mexico. Relative surveys were conducted using a Zero Length Spring, Inc. Burris relative-gravity meter. Absolute-gravity surveys were conducted using a Micro-g LaCoste, Inc. A-10 absolute-gravity meter. The effect of solid...

Geospatial dataset of hydrologic characteristics of the Big Sioux aquifer near Sioux Falls, South Dakota Geospatial dataset of hydrologic characteristics of the Big Sioux aquifer near Sioux Falls, South Dakota

The city of Sioux Falls, in southeastern South Dakota, is the largest city in South Dakota. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the city of Sioux Falls, completed a groundwater-flow model to use for improving the understanding of groundwater-flow processes, estimating hydrogeologic properties, and analyzing groundwater and surface-water interactions for the Big Sioux...

Scientific studies that document plant material sourcing and selection in the interior central and western United States from 1994 to 2024 Scientific studies that document plant material sourcing and selection in the interior central and western United States from 1994 to 2024

These data were compiled for a literature review exploring science that informs plant material sourcing and selection in the interior central and western United States. Objectives of our study were to compile and summarize scientific literature that informs plant material selection to synthesize the state of knowledge relevant to decision-making. These data represent scientific studies...

Water classification of the Colorado River Corridor, Grand Canyon, Arizona, 2021—Data Water classification of the Colorado River Corridor, Grand Canyon, Arizona, 2021—Data

These data are a surface water classification map of surface water in the riparian corridor of Grand Canyon between Glen Canyon and Pearce Ferry, Arizona, published in ESRI shapefile format. The map was classified from 0.2 m resolution, multispectral imagery (Sankey and others, 2024) and are the same spatial resolution as the imagery. In order to differentiate between the boundary...
