Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Whole rock geochemical data from the eastern part of the Yukon-Tanana Upland region, Alaska, USA Whole rock geochemical data from the eastern part of the Yukon-Tanana Upland region, Alaska, USA
This data release is part of a 2016-2019 study on the geology, geochemistry and geochronology of ore systems in the eastern Yukon-Tanana Upland region, Alaska. Whole rock chemistry was conducted on 185 samples, mostly from Au prospects, with lesser samples from porphyry Cu prospects. Geographically, most samples are from gold prospects near the Pogo Au mine and east to Black Mountain in...

National assessment of carbon dioxide enhanced oil recovery and associated carbon dioxide retention resources - data release National assessment of carbon dioxide enhanced oil recovery and associated carbon dioxide retention resources - data release
In 2020, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) completed a probabilistic assessment of the volume of technically recoverable oil resources available if current carbon dioxide enhanced oil recovery (CO2-EOR) technologies were applied in amenable oil reservoirs underlying the onshore and State waters area of the conterminous United States. The assessment also includes estimates of the...
Airborne electromagnetic and magnetic survey data and inverted resistivity models, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, May 2017 Airborne electromagnetic and magnetic survey data and inverted resistivity models, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, May 2017
Airborne electromagnetic (AEM) and magnetic survey data were collected in collaboration with the Iowa Water Science Center for the City of Cedar Rapids to the west of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The survey was flown between May 4 and May 5, 2017 along 347 line kilometers. Electromagnetic data were acquired using RESOLVE frequency-domain helicopter-borne electromagnetic system. Magnetic data were...
Argon data for Santa Cruz Basin (ver. 1.1, November 2022) Argon data for Santa Cruz Basin (ver. 1.1, November 2022)
This data release includes 40Ar/39Ar data from the U.S. Geological Survey for samples from the Santa Cruz Basin, Arizona. Mineral samples were collected by Kenzie Turner and William Page from the upper Santa Cruz Basin, Arizona. Potassium-bearing mineral grains were separated from the bulk sample and analyzed by argon geochronology at the U.S. Geological Survey Argon Geochronology...
NASA GIFT Iceland Highlands: 2019 Oskjuvatn LiDAR NASA GIFT Iceland Highlands: 2019 Oskjuvatn LiDAR
LiDAR scans were taken using a tripod mounted Riegl VZ-400 scanning LiDAR. The tripod was set up such that the scanner was between 1.5 and 2.5 m tall. The VZ-400 is a near infrared (1550 nm) scanner. Geometric control was achieved using a pair of Trimble RB GPS antennae, one mounted on the LiDAR scanner (rover) and the other setup as a base station. Before taking a LiDAR scan, the VZ-400...
Mauna Kea Palila point count data from annual surveys 1998-2018 (ver. 2.0, January 2022) Mauna Kea Palila point count data from annual surveys 1998-2018 (ver. 2.0, January 2022)
Point count survey data collected from 1998 through 2018 to estimate palila abundance on Mauna Kea. Point counts were conducted on 32 transects surrounding Mauna Kea volcano on Hawaii Island. Transects extended from roughly treeline through the forested area, with survey stations approximately 150 m apart. Counts were conducted for six minutes, during which the species, distance to, and...
Topographic and bathymetric data, structure from motion imagery, and ground control data collected at Head of the Meadow, Truro in February 2021, U.S Geological Survey Field Activity 2021-014-FA Topographic and bathymetric data, structure from motion imagery, and ground control data collected at Head of the Meadow, Truro in February 2021, U.S Geological Survey Field Activity 2021-014-FA
These data map the beach and nearshore environment at Head of the Meadow Beach in Truro, MA, providing updated regional context for the 2019 CoastCam installation. CoastCam CACO-01 are two video cameras aimed at the beach that view the coast shared by beachgoers, shorebirds, seals, and sharks. These data were collected as part of field activity 2021-014-FA and a collaboration with the...
Southwestern Riparian Plant Trait Matrix, Colorado River, Grand Canyon, Arizona (ver. 2.0, 2022) Southwestern Riparian Plant Trait Matrix, Colorado River, Grand Canyon, Arizona (ver. 2.0, 2022)
Trait-based approaches to vegetation analyses are becoming more prevalent in studies of riparian vegetation dynamics, including responses to flow regulation, groundwater pumping, and climate change. These analyses require species trait data compiled from the literature and floras or original field measurements. Gathering such data makes trait-based research time intensive at best and...
Stable Isotopic Data (Delta13C and Delta2H) for Reference Materials HCG-1, HCG-2, and HCG-3 Stable Isotopic Data (Delta13C and Delta2H) for Reference Materials HCG-1, HCG-2, and HCG-3
Stable carbon and hydrogen isotopic data generated by off-line preparation and dual inlet mass spectrometric analysis used the determine the recommended values for the reference materials HCG-1, HCG-2, and HCG-3.
Graphite deposits in the United States Graphite deposits in the United States
This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release provides the descriptions of 10 U.S. sites that include mineral regions, mineral occurrences, and mine features that contain enrichments of graphite. To be included in this data release, sites must have a contained resource and (or) past production of more than 1,000 metric tons of graphite, which is approximately 3 percent of the average...
MMODFLOW-OWHM used to characterize the flow system of the Petaluma River Watershed, Sonoma County, California MMODFLOW-OWHM used to characterize the flow system of the Petaluma River Watershed, Sonoma County, California
The Petaluma Valley integrated hydrologic model (PVIHM) was developed by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the Sonoma County Water Agency and the City of Petaluma. The PVIHM simulates the 99,000-acre Petaluma valley watershed and includes 54,000 acres where groundwater flow is active. The model simulates 56 years of historical hydrology (water years 1960–2015) that...
