Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Streamflow data and basin characteristics of natural streams in central and western Colorado, 2019 Streamflow data and basin characteristics of natural streams in central and western Colorado, 2019

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Colorado Department of Transportation, developed peak-, mean-, and low-streamflow regional-regression equations for natural streamflow in central and western Colorado. A total of 418 streamgages were selected for the study having a minimum of 10 years of unregulated streamflows. This data release presents hydrologic data through...

Telemetry data of desert kit foxes near solar facilities in southern California, 2022-2025 Telemetry data of desert kit foxes near solar facilities in southern California, 2022-2025

We captured and collared desert kit foxes in three populations near solar facilities in the Sonoran and Mojave Deserts, California, between November 2022 and January 2023 and in January 2024. This dataset includes telemetry records collected from 21 collared foxes from November 2022 to January 2025. We used these data to estimate home-range sizes for each fox and to evaluate habitat use...

PFAS and pesticide measurements in the whole blood of black and grizzly bears of Montana, 2023 PFAS and pesticide measurements in the whole blood of black and grizzly bears of Montana, 2023

Data include Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substance (PFAS) and pesticides measured in whole blood of male and female black (Ursus americanus) and grizzly (Ursus arctos horribilis) bears collected in the Cabinet-Yaak Ecosystem of Montana in 2023.

Pallid Sturgeon (Scaphirhynchus albus) Habitat Survey at Cranberry Bend on the Missouri River, Missouri, 2025 Pallid Sturgeon (Scaphirhynchus albus) Habitat Survey at Cranberry Bend on the Missouri River, Missouri, 2025

Endangered pallid sturgeon (Scaphirhynchus albus) manual fish tracking points were mapped on the Missouri River between Waverly, Missouri and Miami, Missouri. A multibeam bathymetric survey was conducted, mapping four separate areas, covering 19 manual fish tracking locations from Missouri River mile 282 to Missouri River mile 279. Velocity data were collected using an acoustic Doppler...

Concentrations of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and associated chemicals in avian tissues collected along the Snow Creek and Choccolocco Creek riparian corridors downstream of the former PCB manufacturing facility, and a reference site, near Anniston, Concentrations of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and associated chemicals in avian tissues collected along the Snow Creek and Choccolocco Creek riparian corridors downstream of the former PCB manufacturing facility, and a reference site, near Anniston,

These data are comprised of measured concentrations of PCBs, polychlorinate dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs), polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs), Pb, and Hg, and percent lipid and moisture, in avian tissue samples (egg contents, nestlings, egg shells) collected from the Snow Creek and Choccolocco Creek watersheds downstream of the former PCB facility in Anniston, Alabama, USA. The nearby...

Outputs and code for a mallard migration and energetics model incorporating oil spill effects Outputs and code for a mallard migration and energetics model incorporating oil spill effects

This data release contains a set of data files and scripts related to simulating winter and spring energetics and migration of mallards (Anas platyrhynchos) originating in northern Arkansas, USA as they travel to breeding areas in the Prairie Pothole Region. The simulation results are then re-simulated with the addition of hypothetical oil spills on the wintering ground. Key data files...

DNA amplicon sequences from periphyton collected in dry RNA-preserving salts and homogenized once or multiple times DNA amplicon sequences from periphyton collected in dry RNA-preserving salts and homogenized once or multiple times

Periphyton samples were collected at Sequoia National Park (Three Rivers, California) and preserved in RNA-preserving salts mixed with river water. Samples were homogenized one, two, three, or four times for 2 minutes each, to test efficacy of different degrees of homogenization. DNA from each homogenate was extracted using the AllPrep PowerFecal Pro DNA/RNA kit (Qiagen), and the DNA...

This dataset includes information on total loggerhead sea turtle captures, recaptures, and their size ranges upon capture by year (2011–2024) in St. Joseph Bay, FL.

MODFLOW-6 groundwater flow model and model scenarios of the Ogallala and Arikaree aquifers, Rosebud Sioux Tribe national areas, South Dakota MODFLOW-6 groundwater flow model and model scenarios of the Ogallala and Arikaree aquifers, Rosebud Sioux Tribe national areas, South Dakota

The Ogallala and Arikaree aquifers are important water resources for the Rosebud Sioux Tribe and are used extensively for irrigation and domestic water supplies. Drought or increased withdrawals from the Ogallala and Arikaree aquifers in the Rosebud Sioux Tribal lands potentially affect water levels in these aquifers. MODFLOW-6 (version 6.6.0) groundwater flow models of the Ogallala and...

Thermogravimetric Analysis of rock samples from the Escanaba Trough (Gorda Ridge) Thermogravimetric Analysis of rock samples from the Escanaba Trough (Gorda Ridge)

This data release contains data collected using a thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA) of rock samples collected from the Escanaba Trough hydrothermal vent field, Gorda Ridge, in the northeast Pacific Ocean. These data were collected in 2022 on expedition TN403 (USGS Field Activity 2022-621-FA). Samples were taken to the USGS Pacific Coastal Marine Science Center for subsampling before being...

Data release of surface water storage time series (2016-2023) Data release of surface water storage time series (2016-2023)

Globally, many waterbodies and floodplains have been lost, degraded, or are at risk for further loss, which may have unintended consequences for rivers, including exacerbating flood and drought conditions. We explored how including surface water storage time series in deep learning models influences our ability to predict river discharge. We utilized Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 algorithms...

Global AgWet Mask for SSEBop ET Model Version 7 Global AgWet Mask for SSEBop ET Model Version 7

The AgWet (Agriculture Wetland) mask is a specialized land‑cover dataset developed to enhance wet-bulb boundary parameterization in Version 7 of the SSEBop evapotranspiration model (operational Simplified Surface Energy Balance), particularly improving the Forcing and Normalizing Operation (FANO) algorithm over wet-bare surfaces. In sparsely vegetated surfaces, low NDVI (Normalized...
