Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Waterborne Self-potential Data, Surface-water Temperature and Conductivity Logging data, and Electric Resistivity Tomography Data Measured at East Fork Poplar Creek, Oak Ridge, Tennessee, January-March 2022. Waterborne Self-potential Data, Surface-water Temperature and Conductivity Logging data, and Electric Resistivity Tomography Data Measured at East Fork Poplar Creek, Oak Ridge, Tennessee, January-March 2022.

Geophysical data were collected on January 13, 2022, from a reach of East Fork Poplar Creek in Oak Ridge, Tennessee to gain a better understanding of surface water/groundwater exchanges. This data release contains the following types of data: waterborne self-potential (WaSP), and surface -water temperature and conductivity data collected by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) from 220...

Historical (1940–2006) and recent (2019–20) aquifer slug test datasets used to model transmissivity and hydraulic conductivity of the Mississippi River Valley alluvial aquifer from recent (2018–20) airborne electromagnetic (AEM) survey d Historical (1940–2006) and recent (2019–20) aquifer slug test datasets used to model transmissivity and hydraulic conductivity of the Mississippi River Valley alluvial aquifer from recent (2018–20) airborne electromagnetic (AEM) survey d

The Mississippi River Valley alluvial aquifer (“alluvial aquifer”) is one of the most extensively developed aquifers in the United States. The alluvial aquifer is present at the land surface in parts of southeastern Missouri, northeastern Louisiana, western Mississippi, western Tennessee and Kentucky near the Mississippi River, and throughout eastern Arkansas. Historical (1940–2006) and...

lcp_centrality: Defining least-cost paths and graph theory centrality measures lcp_centrality: Defining least-cost paths and graph theory centrality measures

We present software that creates least-cost path spanning trees, a least-cost path minimum spanning tree, and graph theory centrality measures. The software was developed to support identification of population structures--specifically, greater sage-grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus), but also support other species or graph theory applications where least-cost paths are desired. We used...

Greater sage-grouse population structure and connectivity data to inform the development of hierarchical population units (western United States) Greater sage-grouse population structure and connectivity data to inform the development of hierarchical population units (western United States)

We present five hierarchical demarcations of greater sage-grouse population structure, representing the spatial structure of populations which can exist due to differences in dispersal abilities, landscape configurations, and mating behavior. These demarcations represent Thiessen polygons of graph constructs (least-cost path [LCP] minimum spanning trees [MST; LCP-MST]) representing...

North American Bat Monitoring Program: NABat Acoustic ML, Version 1.0.1 North American Bat Monitoring Program: NABat Acoustic ML, Version 1.0.1

Bats play crucial ecological roles, and provide valuable ecosystem services, yet many populations face serious threats from various ecological disturbances. The North American Bat Monitoring Program (NABat) aims to assess status and trends of bat populations, while developing innovative and community-driven conservation solutions using its unique data and technology infrastructure. To...

Magnetic susceptibility measurements on hydrothermally altered rocks in the Silverton caldera, southwest Colorado Magnetic susceptibility measurements on hydrothermally altered rocks in the Silverton caldera, southwest Colorado

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) collected magnetic susceptibility measurements on rock outcrops to help understand causative sources of magnetic survey anomalies in the Silverton caldera region, southwest Colorado. A total of 1,400 measurements of magnetic susceptibility from 87 locations have been conducted on Paleogene volcanic and plutonic rocks that have been hydrothermally altered...

Interferometric synthetic aperture radar data from 2021 for landslides at Barry Arm Fjord, Alaska Interferometric synthetic aperture radar data from 2021 for landslides at Barry Arm Fjord, Alaska

Subaerial landslides at the head of the Barry Arm fjord remain a tsunami threat for the Prince William Sound region in southern Alaska. Tasked RADARSAT-2 synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data from two ultrafine beam modes (2 m), U19 and U15, were used to measure landslide movement of slopes near the toe of the Barry Glacier between 21 May 2021 and 5 November 2021. Data were acquired every...

Naled and dichlorvos in water and aquatic organisms from a canal and rice fields near Sacramento, California Naled and dichlorvos in water and aquatic organisms from a canal and rice fields near Sacramento, California

Ultra-low volumes of naled are applied by aircraft over rice fields and canals to reduce adult mosquito populations near Sacramento, California. Each summer, the pesticide is applied approximately 7-10 times between July and October. Naled and its major degradate (dichlorvos) were quantified in water, biofilm, and invertebrates following aerial applications. In 2020, samples were...

Pollen data from seven lakes in the Klamath Mountains, California: a case study for paleoecological reconstruction Pollen data from seven lakes in the Klamath Mountains, California: a case study for paleoecological reconstruction

The dataset include raw pollen counts, age model data, and pollen accumulation rates with uncertainty estimates for seven lake sites in the Klamath Mountains, California, USA. The raw pollen counts reflect the relative abundance of major taxa from the vegetation surrounding each lake site (n=7) at 5 different time periods. The age model data provides a Bayesian-based estimate of the...

Chemical alteration index values and rare earth element data and expected ranges for regolith overlying the Stewartsville pluton, Virginia Chemical alteration index values and rare earth element data and expected ranges for regolith overlying the Stewartsville pluton, Virginia

This dataset contains whole major element geochemical data used to calculate values of the chemical alteration index (CIA), data for Nd, Sm, Y, and total REE and expected ranges for total REEY for samples of regolith overlying the Stewartsville pluton, Virginia. The southeastern United States was first identified as prospective for regolith-hosted REE deposits based on the recognition...

Airborne Magnetic Survey, Michigan Upper Peninsula Area, 2008 Airborne Magnetic Survey, Michigan Upper Peninsula Area, 2008

This publication provides digital flight line data for a high-resolution magnetic survey over an area of the west-central Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The survey was flown in 2008 by Aeroquest under contract to Kennecott Eagle Minerals Company using a fixed-wing aircraft with a magnetometer mounted in a tail stinger. The USGS has obtained this 66,074 line km subset of the survey dataset...

Mapping irregularly flooded wetlands, high marsh, and salt pannes/flats along the northern Gulf of Mexico coast (ver. 2.0, June 2023) Mapping irregularly flooded wetlands, high marsh, and salt pannes/flats along the northern Gulf of Mexico coast (ver. 2.0, June 2023)

This data release includes geospatial data for irregularly flooded wetlands and high marsh and salt pannes/flats along the northern Gulf of Mexico coast from Texas to Florida. Specifically, this release includes seven products: (1) a map highlighting the continuous probability that an area is an irregularly flooded wetland; (2) a map of irregularly flooded wetland probability...
