Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Aerial images, digital elevation models, channel width maps, and river metrics along the Colorado River in Canyonlands National Park, Utah (1940 - 2018) Aerial images, digital elevation models, channel width maps, and river metrics along the Colorado River in Canyonlands National Park, Utah (1940 - 2018)

These data consist of rectified aerial photographs, measurements of active channel width, measurements of river and floodplain bathymetry and topography, and ancillary data. These data are specific to the corridor of the Colorado River in Canyonlands National Park between Potash, Utah and the confluence of the Green and Colorado Rivers near Spanish Bottom, Utah. The time period for these...

Primary production and precipitation data along an elevation gradient in and adjacent to the San Francisco Mountains near Flagstaff, Arizona - 2015-2020 Primary production and precipitation data along an elevation gradient in and adjacent to the San Francisco Mountains near Flagstaff, Arizona - 2015-2020

These data were compiled to allow further understanding of how aboveground net primary production of different plant functional types in ecosystems along an elevation gradient in the southwestern U.S. respond to extreme changes in warm-season precipitation (drought and water addition) associated with the North American Monsoon. The objectives of the study were to 1) determine how primary

Shapefile for slip tendency and dilation tendency calculated for Quaternary faults in the Great Basin Shapefile for slip tendency and dilation tendency calculated for Quaternary faults in the Great Basin

This database contains the results of slip tendency and dilation tendency analysis of Quaternary faults in the Great Basin region, including parts of Arizona, California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Wyoming. This effort was undertaken to help identify faults and fault segments that are appropriately oriented to be stress-loaded for slip or to dilate under the ambient stress...

Groundwater and surface water data for a regional assessment of groundwater salinity variations and sources in the Indio Subbasin of the Coachella Valley, California Groundwater and surface water data for a regional assessment of groundwater salinity variations and sources in the Indio Subbasin of the Coachella Valley, California

The U.S. Geological Survey collected groundwater samples from 17 wells in the Indio subbasin (CA basin designation 7-21.01) of the Coachella Valley and surface water samples from two sites representing sources of recharge to the Indio subbasin in 2021. These samples are intended to provide inorganic water quality data, particularly total dissolved solids (TDS), within areas of the Indio...

UAV based vegetation classification results and input NDVI, vegetation height, and texture datasets for two Montana rangeland sites in 2018 UAV based vegetation classification results and input NDVI, vegetation height, and texture datasets for two Montana rangeland sites in 2018

Unpiloted aerial system (UAS) flight campaigns were conducted at two rangeland sites in Southwestern Montana during the 2018 growing season to classify vegetation and landcover types. A total of nine flights were conducted at the Argenta site and seven at the Virginia City site. To align images in space and time, we used four-dimensional structure from motion (4D SfM) and continued with...

Porphyry copper deposits and prospects in the Andes Mountains of South America Porphyry copper deposits and prospects in the Andes Mountains of South America

The Andes Mountains of South America host significant porphyry copper deposits. The region is the major global source of copper and an area of active mining, exploration, and development. The Andes region was included in USGS global compilations of porphyry deposits published by Singer and others in 2005 and 2008. Since that time, many new discoveries and new resource data have become...

DUNEX topographic, bathymetric, and supporting GPS data collected in Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge, North Carolina 2020-2021 (ver. 1.1, May 2024) DUNEX topographic, bathymetric, and supporting GPS data collected in Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge, North Carolina 2020-2021 (ver. 1.1, May 2024)

The data in this release characterize the beach and nearshore environment in Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge, NC at the USGS DUring Nearshore Event eXperiment (DUNEX) site and Basnight Bridge. Data include GPS surveys, reference points, and ground control points; imagery and structure-from-motion products; bathymetry data, and merged topographic and bathymetric grids. To cite a...

Time Series of Autonomous Carbonate System Parameter Measurements in Middle Tampa Bay, Florida, USA Time Series of Autonomous Carbonate System Parameter Measurements in Middle Tampa Bay, Florida, USA

This data set contains time series measurements of carbonate system parameters including water temperature (degrees C), pressure (dbars), salinity, pHT (pH on the total scale), carbon dioxide (ppm), dissolved oxygen (milligrams/L), and photosynthetically active radiation (microEinsteins). These data were collected in Middle Tampa Bay, Florida, by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) St...

Dynamic stage to discharge rating model archive Dynamic stage to discharge rating model archive

Ratings are used for a variety of reasons in water-resources investigations. The simplest rating relates discharge to the stage of the river. From a pure hydrodynamics perspective, all rivers and streams have some form of hysteresis in the relation between stage and discharge because of unsteady flow as a flood wave passes. Simple ratings are unable to represent hysteresis in a stage...

Science-based Management of Ravens Tool (SMaRT) Science-based Management of Ravens Tool (SMaRT)

The Science-based Management of Ravens Tool (SMaRT) supports a science-based adaptive management framework that incorporates recent quantitative analyses and mapping products for addressing areas with elevated common raven (Corvus corax) numbers and minimizing potential adverse impacts to sensitive species, agricultural damage, and human safety (Dettenmaier et al. 2021). This is a web...
