The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Nutrient loading, flushing rate, and lake morphometry data used to identify trophic states in selected watersheds of the eastern and southeastern United States Nutrient loading, flushing rate, and lake morphometry data used to identify trophic states in selected watersheds of the eastern and southeastern United States

For State agencies and other water-resources managers, determining which waterbodies to allocate limited funds for protection and restoration while also maximizing cost benefit is challenging. This data release contains trophic state designations determined from secchi depth, and concentrations of chlorophyll a and microcystin at 232 lakes and reservoirs having a surface area of greater...

Hakalau litter, frass, soil, and understory foliar nitrogen during a koa moth outbreak, 2013-2014 Hakalau litter, frass, soil, and understory foliar nitrogen during a koa moth outbreak, 2013-2014

This data release includes metadata and tabular data that document estimates of litterfall, koa moth (Scotorythra paludicola) caterpillar frass production, soil nutrients, and foliar nutrients during 2013-2014 at Hakalau Forest National Wildlife Refuge. During this time, there was a massive defoliation event of Acacia koa (koa) trees by the koa moth. We monitored these metrics in 4 sites...

These data include a summary of a base flow survey of the Verde River within Verde Valley, a ~65km reach from ~7 km above Clarkdale, AZ to ~5km below the mouth of West Clear Creek. Data include discharge, water temperature, and specific conductance values from 22 sites on the Verde River and its tributaries, including Oak Creek, Beaver Creek, West Clear Creek, and irrigation ditches...

Geophysical and core sample data collected offshore Oceanside to San Diego, southern California, during field activity 2018-638-FA from 2018-05-21 to 2018-05-26 Geophysical and core sample data collected offshore Oceanside to San Diego, southern California, during field activity 2018-638-FA from 2018-05-21 to 2018-05-26

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) collected geophysical and core sample data aboard the R/V Bold Horizon in 2018 on cruise 2018-638-FA offshore Oceanside to San Diego, southern California. The data were collected to assess sand and gravel resources in Federal and State waters for potential use in future beach nourishment projects along stretches of the coast where critical erosion...
