Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Southern Beaufort Sea Polar Bear Mark Recapture Data, 2000-2023 Southern Beaufort Sea Polar Bear Mark Recapture Data, 2000-2023

This dataset is one table with data collected and derived from polar bears sampled in Alaska from the Southern Beaufort Sea subpopulation during 2000-2023. Collected data includes individual identity, location of observation, observation type, estimated birth year, and demographic information. Data were collected from polar bears that were captured, remotely sampled using biopsy darts...

This data release provides radiochemistry data (210Pb and 137Cs) of two sediment cores, BC01 and BC02, collected during USGS Field Activity 2024-662-FA in 2024 in San Francisco Bay, California, U.S.A., off Alameda and Point Isabel, respectively.

Topographic data, imagery, and GPS data collected during uncrewed aircraft system (UAS) operations at Town Neck Beach, Sandwich, Massachusetts Topographic data, imagery, and GPS data collected during uncrewed aircraft system (UAS) operations at Town Neck Beach, Sandwich, Massachusetts

Small Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (sUAS) were used to collect aerial remote sensing data over Town Neck Beach, a highly trafficked local beach in Sandwich Massachusetts with parking lot, boardwalk, and state maintained sand and vegetation placement. USGS personnel collected natural (RGB) color images, LiDAR, and ground control points starting in December 2023 to support multiple science...

Small Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (sUAS) were used to collect aerial remote sensing data over Town Neck Beach, Massachusetts. The area is a highly trafficked public beach with parking lot, boardwalk, and renourishment and dune stabilization plan. On October 15th, 2024, USGS personnel collected natural (RGB) color images, lidar, ground control points, check points, and a vegetation height...

Frequency Domain Electromagnetic (FDEM) Geophysical Data Collected near Lake Placid, NY Frequency Domain Electromagnetic (FDEM) Geophysical Data Collected near Lake Placid, NY

This data release contains frequency domain electromagnetic (FDEM) data collected during discrete times between July 2019 to October 2022 near Lake Placid, NY as part of a multi-method effort to monitor the effects of different road salt treatments on groundwater and the surrounding surface water (West Branch Ausable River). The FDEM instrument used was a Geophex GEM-2; a broadband...

Pygmy rabbit telemetry data 2008-2009 in Utah Pygmy rabbit telemetry data 2008-2009 in Utah

This dataset accompanies manuscripts "Effects of sagebrush treatments on multi-scale resource selection by pygmy rabbits" (https://doi.org/10.1002/jwmg.51) and "Spatial ecology of refuge selection by an herbivore under risk of predation" (http://dx.doi.org/10.1890/ES11-00247.1). It is a single table that includes telemetry locations for 16 pygmy rabbits (Brachylagus idahoensis). The...

Sediment and fish data to develop severity of ill effect dose-response models Sediment and fish data to develop severity of ill effect dose-response models

We synthesized existing literature to develop this dataset which relates suspended sediment concentration and exposure duration to biological effects on fishes. Our dataset contains a total of 3,610 dose-response data triplicates consisting of (a) suspended sediment concentration, (b) duration of exposure, and (c) fish severity of ill effects (SEV). There is no original data in the...

Lagrangian water quality monitoring of the Animas River: Data release from a sonde-equipped raft sampling campaign that occurred on the Animas River between Trimble, CO to Farmington, NM in June, 2022 Lagrangian water quality monitoring of the Animas River: Data release from a sonde-equipped raft sampling campaign that occurred on the Animas River between Trimble, CO to Farmington, NM in June, 2022

The purpose of this data release is to provide water quality data that were collected during a raft sampling campaign near USGS streamgage 372728107475701 (Animas River at Bakers Bridge north of Durango, CO) to USGS streamgage 09364500 (Animas River at Farmington, NM) between the dates 06/06/2022 and 06/10/2022. Chemical and physical parameters were collected at 1-minute intervals with...

FLOwPER Database: StreamFLOw PERmanence field observations, Jan 2023 - Dec 2023 FLOwPER Database: StreamFLOw PERmanence field observations, Jan 2023 - Dec 2023

IMPORTANT NOTE: This dataset includes spatial locations where streamflow permanence observations (continuous flow, discontinuous flow, and dry) were recorded using the FLOwPER (FLOw PERmanence) field survey available in the Survey 123 mobile data collection application. Additional information to describe the field conditions are included as part of the survey. Field observations in the...

Growth, survival, and tag retention results from PIT tagging Santa Ana Sucker in a mesocosm experiment Growth, survival, and tag retention results from PIT tagging Santa Ana Sucker in a mesocosm experiment

The Santa Ana Sucker (Pantosteus santaanae) is a federally threatened species of ray-finned fishes endemic to the Santa Ana, San Gabriel, and Los Angeles Rivers in southern California. Seasonal limitations on conventional sampling and inconsistencies in survey methodologies have led to an incomplete understanding of Santa Ana Sucker population dynamics. Therefore, alternative sampling...
