Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Batteries Included Fortran Library (BiF-lib), version 1.0.0 Batteries Included Fortran Library (BiF-lib), version 1.0.0

Standard Fortran provides limited data type, function, and subroutine support leaving the developer to write custom code for every project. This has lead to every developer having their own internal, homemade, Fortran library for doing common operations. In recognition of this, most newer programming languages incorporate a large set of standard data types and functions that the...

xstrm xstrm

Python package to assist with stream network summarization. This package is intended to support efforts for any stream network having general topology (i.e. to/from nodes). Specifically this package was built to support fisheries based analyses using multiple versions of the National Hydrography Database Plus (NHDPlus) representing streams within the United States along with HydroBasins...

Geospatial data and models for the Simulation of Hypothetical Bighead Carp Egg and Larvae Development and Transport in the Ohio River between Markland Locks and Dam and McAlpine Locks and Dam, Kentucky and Indiana, by use of the Fluvial Egg Drift Simulato Geospatial data and models for the Simulation of Hypothetical Bighead Carp Egg and Larvae Development and Transport in the Ohio River between Markland Locks and Dam and McAlpine Locks and Dam, Kentucky and Indiana, by use of the Fluvial Egg Drift Simulato

Data collection, along with hydraulic and fluvial egg transport modeling, were completed along a 70.9-mile reach of the Ohio River between Markland Locks and Dam and McAlpine Locks and Dam. Data were collected during two surveys: October 27?November 4, 2016, and June 26?29, 2017. Water-quality data collected in this reach included surface measurements and vertical profiles of water...

Station information, Seabed and Sample Imagery, and CTD Instrument Data Collected on Stellwagen Bank in December 2015, U.S. Geological Survey Field Activity 2015-074-FA Station information, Seabed and Sample Imagery, and CTD Instrument Data Collected on Stellwagen Bank in December 2015, U.S. Geological Survey Field Activity 2015-074-FA

This field activity is part of the effort to map geologic substrates of the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary region off Boston, Massachusetts. The overall goal is to develop high-resolution (1:25,000) interpretive maps, based on multibeam sonar data and seabed sampling, showing surficial geology and seabed sediment dynamics. This cruise was conducted in collaboration with the...

Cenozoic Calcareous Nannofossil Occurrences from South Atlantic Coastal Plain Cores Cenozoic Calcareous Nannofossil Occurrences from South Atlantic Coastal Plain Cores

In this data release, Cenozoic calcareous nannofossil occurrence charts are provided as Microsoft Excel spreadsheets for 17 cores from the South Atlantic Coastal Plain (North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia) Samples have been assigned a USGS sample number and are organized by depth below the land surface. Based on their known stratigraphic position, lithology, and specific...

Cenozoic Calcareous Nannofossil Occurrences from Gulf Coastal Plain Cores and Outcrops Cenozoic Calcareous Nannofossil Occurrences from Gulf Coastal Plain Cores and Outcrops

In this data release, Cenozoic calcareous nannofossil occurrence charts are provided as Microsoft Excel spreadsheets for 15 cores or outcrops from the Gulf Coastal Plain (Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia). Samples have been assigned a USGS sample number and are organized by depth below (cores and wells) or height above (outcrops) the land surface. Based on their known stratigraphic...

Biomass accrual and trace-element concentrations in water and periphytic algae at select locations in the Clark Fork and Blackfoot Rivers, Montana, 2015 Biomass accrual and trace-element concentrations in water and periphytic algae at select locations in the Clark Fork and Blackfoot Rivers, Montana, 2015

The U.S. Geological Survey monitored algal biomass accrual and concentrations of metals and other trace elements in stream water and periphytic algae at 3-4 day intervals over a 2-week period at 3 locations within the upper and middle portions of the mining-impacted Clark Fork River, Montana, and at one location on the relatively unimpacted Blackfoot River tributary. This data release...

Repeat microgravity data from Mesilla Valley, New Mexico, 2016-2018 Repeat microgravity data from Mesilla Valley, New Mexico, 2016-2018

This dataset represents the network-adjusted results of relative- and absolute-gravity surveys. Relative-gravity surveys were carried out using a Zero Length Spring, Inc. relative-gravity meter. The effect of solid Earth tides and ocean loading were removed from the data. Instrument drift was removed by evaluating gravity change during repeated measurements at one or more base stations...

Time Series of Autonomous Carbonate System Parameter Measurements in Eastern Gulf of Mexico near Tampa Bay, Florida, USA Time Series of Autonomous Carbonate System Parameter Measurements in Eastern Gulf of Mexico near Tampa Bay, Florida, USA

This data set contains time series measurements of carbonate system parameters including water temperature (degrees C), pressure (dbars), salinity, pHT (pH on the total scale), carbon dioxide (ppm), dissolved oxygen (milligrams/L), and photosynthetically active radiation (microEinsteins). These data were collected in the eastern Gulf of Mexico near Tampa Bay, Florida, at the University...

Hawaii Island bird response to koa moth outbreak, 2013-2014 Hawaii Island bird response to koa moth outbreak, 2013-2014

This data release includes metadata and tabular data that document the responses of birds to changes in habitat conditions before and after koa (Acacia koa) defoliation by koa moths (Scotorythra paludicola). Data sets document changes in the (1) use of tree species, (2) arthropod composition of diets, and (3) body mass.
