Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

One Meter Topobathymetric Digital Elevation Model for Lake Powell, Arizona-Utah, 1947-2018 One Meter Topobathymetric Digital Elevation Model for Lake Powell, Arizona-Utah, 1947-2018

To support the modeling of the Colorado River water storage area capacity tables by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Utah Water Science Center in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area in Utah and Arizona, the USGS Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Center has created an integrated 1-meter topobathymetric digital elevation model (TBDEM) for Lake Powell, the second largest...

Data for generating statistical maps of soil cobalt concentrations in the conterminous United States Data for generating statistical maps of soil cobalt concentrations in the conterminous United States

The product data are six statistics that were estimated for the chemical concentration of cobalt in the soil C horizon of the conterminous United States (Smith and others, 2013). The estimates are made at 9998 locations that are uniformly distributed across the conterminous United States. The six statistics are the mean for the isometric log-ratio transform of the concentrations, the...

Pre-existing features associated with active faulting in the vicinity of the 2019 Ridgecrest, California earthquake sequence Pre-existing features associated with active faulting in the vicinity of the 2019 Ridgecrest, California earthquake sequence

This dataset is composed of linear active tectonic and other relevant features (scarps, deflected drainages, and lineaments and contrasts in topography, vegetation, and ground color) mapped based on high-resolution topography, aerial/satellite imagery, and field observations. The mapping covers the area surrounding the 2019 Ridgecrest, California earthquake surface ruptures. Point...

Estimated Annual Recharge to the Edwards Aquifer in the San Antonio Area, by Stream Basin or Ungaged Area, 1934-2018. Estimated Annual Recharge to the Edwards Aquifer in the San Antonio Area, by Stream Basin or Ungaged Area, 1934-2018.

The Edwards aquifer in south central Texas is one of the most permeable and productive aquifers in the United States and is the major source of public water supply for Bexar, Comal, Hays, Medina, and Uvalde Counties. The Edwards aquifer also supplies large quantities of water to agriculture, business, and industry in the region. The major artesian springs of the Edwards aquifer provide...

Evapotranspiration Measured at two Rangeland sites in Victoria County, South-Central Texas, 2015-2018 Evapotranspiration Measured at two Rangeland sites in Victoria County, South-Central Texas, 2015-2018

The U.S. Geological Survey and Desert Research Institute, in cooperation with the Natural Resources Conservation Service, Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board, Victoria County Groundwater Conservation District, Victoria Soil and Water Conservation District, and the San Antonio River Authority, evaluated the hydrologic effects of Vachellia farnesiana var. farnesiana (huisache)...

Data from in-situ displacement monitoring, Slumgullion landslide, Hinsdale County, Colorado Data from in-situ displacement monitoring, Slumgullion landslide, Hinsdale County, Colorado

We monitored displacement of the Slumgullion landslide located in Hinsdale County, Colorado. We measured displacement at the ground surface between 12 August 2011 and 10 October 2018, and in the subsurface between 4 September 2016 and 7 December 2016. Both types of data were acquired at irregular time intervals. Displacement at the ground surface was measured at locations within the...

Coastal wetlands of north shore Long Island, New York Coastal wetlands of north shore Long Island, New York

This data release contains coastal wetland synthesis products for the geographic region of north shore Long Island, New York. Metrics for resiliency, including unvegetated to vegetated ratio (UVVR), marsh elevation, and mean tidal range, are calculated for smaller units delineated from a Digital Elevation Model, providing the spatial variability of physical factors that influence wetland...

Hybrid Lidar/Imagery Sensor Validation Survey Data Hybrid Lidar/Imagery Sensor Validation Survey Data

U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) scientists conducted field data collection efforts during the weeks of September 9-13 and November 18-22, 2019, using a combination of technologies to map and validate topography, vegetation, and features in two areas of interest (AOI's) in north central Colorado. The western AOI included land managed by the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest...

Sediment Chemistry and Physical Properties from Sediments in the Aztec Drinking Water Reservoir #1 Sediment Chemistry and Physical Properties from Sediments in the Aztec Drinking Water Reservoir #1

The elemental concentration over time of sediments from four trenches from the Aztec drinking water reservoir #1 was measured. The source of water to the reservoir is the Animas River, which has historical mining sites in the watershed. In order to evaluate the geochemical record in the sediments, several types of data were collected. Bulk chemical analysis of sediments with depth in the...

Basin characteristics and travel time metrics for 100 sites in the southeastern United States Basin characteristics and travel time metrics for 100 sites in the southeastern United States

The dataset has basin characteristics (drainage area, land use, and reservoir storage), parameters for a relation between streamflow and velocity, and travel time metrics at 100 gaged sites in the southeastern United States.

Geospatial Fabric for the National Hydrologic Model Alaska Domain, version 1 Geospatial Fabric for the National Hydrologic Model Alaska Domain, version 1

This metadata record documents a geospatial dataset for the U.S. Geological Survey Precipitation Runoff Modeling System (PRMS) used to drive the National Hydrologic Model (NHM). The Alaska Geospatial Fabric v1 is the spatial representation of the hydrologic response units (HRUs) used for the PRMS NHM Alaska domain. These HRUs were generated using the twelve-digit Hydrologic Unit Code...

Digitized Historical Borehole Geophysical Logs Throughout the Mississippi Alluvial Plain Aquifer System Digitized Historical Borehole Geophysical Logs Throughout the Mississippi Alluvial Plain Aquifer System

This data release consists of historical borehole geophysical data collected by various entities and digitally recreated by the U.S. Geological Survey to characterize the physical properties of the subsurface in the Mississippi Alluvial Plain from Louisiana to Missouri. The geophysical log data were collected by different Federal, state, and local agencies throughout the area, and were...
