Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Aquatic reflectance data from Sentinel-2 satellite imagery paired with continuous water quality measurements across the Delaware, Illinois, Trinity, Upper Colorado, and Willamette River basins in the United States from July 2015 through September 2024 Aquatic reflectance data from Sentinel-2 satellite imagery paired with continuous water quality measurements across the Delaware, Illinois, Trinity, Upper Colorado, and Willamette River basins in the United States from July 2015 through September 2024

Aquatic reflectance data from Sentinel-2 satellite imagery is paired with continuous water quality measurements across the Delaware, Illinois, Trinity, Upper Colorado, and Willamette River basins in the United States from July 2015 through September 2024. The dataset contains a zipped file (Matched_WQ_S2.zip) containing two csvs of matched continuous colored dissolved organic matter...

Small mammal captures in Everglades National Park, Florida (2014 - 2019) Small mammal captures in Everglades National Park, Florida (2014 - 2019)

Species differ in their habitat preferences based on seasonal hydrologic conditions. Species such as the semi-aquatic marsh rice rat (Oryzomys palustris) are adapted to high water conditions, while other species, such as the hispid cotton rat (Sigmodon hispidus) and the cotton mouse (Peromyscus gossypinus) prefer drier hammocks during the wet season. The aim of our study was to...

Stream Health and Habitat Assessments for Mixed Agricultural Streams in Pennsylvania and Maryland (2023) Stream Health and Habitat Assessments for Mixed Agricultural Streams in Pennsylvania and Maryland (2023)

U. S. Geological Survey (USGS) scientists completed a data collection campaign from the 3rd of April to the 23rd of June in 2023, using various methods to record geomorphic and habitat indicators throughout 30 streams in southern Pennsylvania and northern Maryland. Field methods included GNSS surveys, gravelometer-based pebble count readings, visual assessments, and riparian analyses...

Elk Herd Unit Ecological Data for Northwestern Wyoming and Southwestern Montana in relation to Elk Feedgrounds from 1995-2020 Elk Herd Unit Ecological Data for Northwestern Wyoming and Southwestern Montana in relation to Elk Feedgrounds from 1995-2020

Data blended from a variety of sources to explore the effects of feeding on elk population productivity metrics with the incorporation of climate, predator, and harvest data over a 26-year time frame. Data are for elk herd units in northwestern Wyoming and two herd subunits for southwestern Montana.

A Method for High Performance Liquid Chromatography Analysis of Volatile Fatty Acids in Water A Method for High Performance Liquid Chromatography Analysis of Volatile Fatty Acids in Water

A method was developed to measure the presence and concentration of the organic volatile fatty acids (VFA) formate, malate, lactate, acetate, and propionate in aqueous samples using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and ultraviolet absorbance detection. This dataset includes a method detection limit (MDL) study, along with appropriate quality control samples, used to verify...

Compilation of actual evapotranspiration and vegetation indices along critical riparian zones on the Navajo Nation from 2013-2023 Compilation of actual evapotranspiration and vegetation indices along critical riparian zones on the Navajo Nation from 2013-2023

These data were compiled for monitoring riparian zone trends and changes in the Navajo Nation as part of a study to document riparian ecosystem health and its water use in support of potential restoration efforts. The objective of our study was to monitor the short and medium-term effects on the riparian vegetation in relation to evapotranspiration changes, drought, and other...

Geospatial data, flood-frequency analysis, and surface-water model archive for streamflow extents and hydraulic characteristics of Meadow Valley Wash at Stuart Ranch, near Rox, Nevada Geospatial data, flood-frequency analysis, and surface-water model archive for streamflow extents and hydraulic characteristics of Meadow Valley Wash at Stuart Ranch, near Rox, Nevada

This U.S. Geological Survey data release consists of multiple datasets used to simulate the streamflow extents and hydraulic characteristics of Meadow Valley Wash at Stuart Ranch near Rox, Nevada. Streamflow extents equal the maximum area of flow inundation and were estimated using a two-dimensional (2D) hydraulic model. The modeled extents represent baseflow and six annual exceedance

Carbonate Budgets, Structure-from-Motion Products, and Topographic Complexity Measurements From Restored and Non-restored Areas of Coral Reefs in the Lower Florida Keys Carbonate Budgets, Structure-from-Motion Products, and Topographic Complexity Measurements From Restored and Non-restored Areas of Coral Reefs in the Lower Florida Keys

During the summers of 2022 and 2023, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) researchers conducted underwater surveys aimed at quantifying the impact that past coral restoration by Mote Marine Laboratory had on the reef-accretion process. The surveys were conducted along paired transects representing restored and non-restored areas of eight offshore reefs and three patch-reef sites in the Lower...

Diver-Based Structure-from-Motion Imagery From Coral Reef Restoration Surveys in the Lower Florida Keys: July 2022 and July 2023 Diver-Based Structure-from-Motion Imagery From Coral Reef Restoration Surveys in the Lower Florida Keys: July 2022 and July 2023

During the summers of 2022 and 2023, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) researchers conducted underwater photographic surveys aimed at quantifying the impact that past coral restoration by Mote Marine Laboratory had on the reef-accretion process. A total of 39,840 non-georeferenced diver-based images were collected. The surveys were conducted along paired transects (approximately 10x2 meter...

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and wastewater indicator compounds measured in polar organic chemical integrative samplers (POCIS), and cyanotoxin concentrations measured in solid phase adsorption toxin trackers (SPATTs), in the lower Columbia Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and wastewater indicator compounds measured in polar organic chemical integrative samplers (POCIS), and cyanotoxin concentrations measured in solid phase adsorption toxin trackers (SPATTs), in the lower Columbia

This data release contains the analytical results of three contaminant classes in water using two types of passive sampling devices. Samples were collected at eight sites in the lower Columbia River and two sites in the lower Willamette River in Oregon and Washington. A Polar Organic Compound Integrating Sampler (POCIS) and a Solid-Phase Adsorption Toxin Tracker (SPATT) sampler were...

Topographic Wetness Indexes for the Upper and Lower Colorado River Basins Topographic Wetness Indexes for the Upper and Lower Colorado River Basins

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release describes two 30-meter (m) raster datasets of topographic wetness indexes (TWI) for the Upper and Lower Colorado River basins. The data reside in GeoTIFF (Geographic Tagged Imaged File Format) multiplied by 10 and saved as an integer file to reduce space (colorado14_twX100i.tif and colorado15_twiX100.tif). The TWI units are dimensionless...

Bridge-Site Study Data for Selected Highway Crossings in Mississippi, 2024 Bridge-Site Study Data for Selected Highway Crossings in Mississippi, 2024

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) works closely with the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) to provide information to be used by the MDOT for design of highway-drainage structures. MDOT spends millions of dollars annually for highway construction. Streamflow records, hydrologic analyses of basins, and hydraulic analyses of flooding potential at proposed highway crossings...
