Velocity mapping using moving boat and side-looking acoustic Doppler current profilers at False River, CA in February and March 2022 Velocity mapping using moving boat and side-looking acoustic Doppler current profilers at False River, CA in February and March 2022

Moving boat (MB) acoustic Doppler current profile (ADCP) measurements collected at discrete cross-sections over an ~1.5 kilometer stretch of False River, near the San Joaquin River, CA. These data were collected on four separate days in March of 2022, and are georeferenced and depth-averaged. Side looking (SL) ADCP data was also georeferenced to provide an index for the moving boat ADCP

Vermont Flood of July 2023 Data Vermont Flood of July 2023 Data

A major rain event caused catastrophic flooding from July 9 through 12, 2023, in various portions of the State of Vermont, resulting in millions of dollars of damage. The high amount of rainfall caused several rivers to peak at record levels, in some cases exceeding records set by Tropical Storm Irene in 2011. President Biden approved an Emergency Declaration for Vermont on July 11, 2023...

Vertical Control GNSS and leveling data collected across five Texas coastal National Wildlife Refuges, 2024 Vertical Control GNSS and leveling data collected across five Texas coastal National Wildlife Refuges, 2024

This data release contains Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) measurements acquired across five Texas coast National Wildlife Refuges in 2024. These data will be used to establish vertical control and tie rod-set elevation table (RSET) data to the National Spatial Reference System (NSRS) and National Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88). Data from the RSETs will be used to determine...

Vertical Land Motion Global Navigation Satellite System Campaigns, Southeast Virginia, 2023 Vertical Land Motion Global Navigation Satellite System Campaigns, Southeast Virginia, 2023

This data release contains the original campaign survey files in Receiver Independent Exchange Format (RINEX) and summaries of the survey results for 9 vertical control points in the Hampton Roads region of southeastern Virginia. In this 2023 survey campaign, a subset of 9 the original 24 benchmarks were occupied with Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) antennas and receivers as...

Vertical land motion rates for the years 2015 to 2023 - Coastal Alaska Vertical land motion rates for the years 2015 to 2023 - Coastal Alaska

Datasets contain vertical land motion (VLM) rates (land uplift and subsidence) derived from Sentinel-1 A/B satellites between 2015 and 2023 for the Alaska coastline. Files are available as csv files.

Video observations of Common Terns usurping and brooding Least Tern chicks Video observations of Common Terns usurping and brooding Least Tern chicks

These videos show a pair of common terns usurping a least tern nest with chicks. These data support a paired USGS authored manuscript.

Visible and Near Infrared (VNIR) and Short Wavelength Infrared (SWIR) Spectra of Select Altered Mafic and Ultramafic Rock Samples from the Josephine Peridotite in CA and OR, the Yukon-Tanana region in Alaska, and from the Southern Appalachians in VA, NC, Visible and Near Infrared (VNIR) and Short Wavelength Infrared (SWIR) Spectra of Select Altered Mafic and Ultramafic Rock Samples from the Josephine Peridotite in CA and OR, the Yukon-Tanana region in Alaska, and from the Southern Appalachians in VA, NC,

These data are laboratory reflectance measurements conducted on a suite of altered mafic and ultramafic rocks. Visible-Near InfraRed (VNIR) and Short-Wave InfraRed (SWIR) reflectance measurements were made (~0.4 – 2.5 microns) using an artificial light source connected to an Analytical Spectral Devices (ASD) spectrometer. Spectra from a total of 91 samples were measured and analyzed...

Volatile organic compound and biogeochemical parameter concentrations from samples collected in porewater, groundwater, and rock matrix, Fort Detrick, Frederick, Maryland, 2018-2020 Volatile organic compound and biogeochemical parameter concentrations from samples collected in porewater, groundwater, and rock matrix, Fort Detrick, Frederick, Maryland, 2018-2020

This metadata record contains 14 tables of biogeochemical data collected to evaluate the fate and transport of chlorinated ethenes in Area B groundwater, Fort Detrick, Frederick, Maryland collected during 2018-2020. Included in the dataset are (1) FtD_All_Constituents_NA_2019: concentrations of all non-VOC constituents analyzed as part of the natural attenuation sampling event in 2019,...

Waikamoi and Hanawi Maui, forest bird malaria infection data 1993 -1996 Waikamoi and Hanawi Maui, forest bird malaria infection data 1993 -1996

This data publication contains information collected as part of a field and laboratory effort to determine prevalence of avian malaria (Plasmodium relictum) and pox-like lesions (Avipoxvirus spp.) in native and non-native forest birds on the northern, high elevation (>1500 m) slopes of Haleakala volcano on Maui during the last decade of the 20th century. Forest bird banding data and...

Wall diffuser velocity effects on American Shad (Alosa sapidissima) inside a fishway entrance channel Wall diffuser velocity effects on American Shad (Alosa sapidissima) inside a fishway entrance channel

In this dataset, there are six csv files that provide the raw fish behavior telemetry data and a single csv file that provides the processed velocity data.

Walleye Temperature and Depth Values and Abiotic Conditions of Three Northern Wisconsin Lakes Collected Between June – October 2022 Walleye Temperature and Depth Values and Abiotic Conditions of Three Northern Wisconsin Lakes Collected Between June – October 2022

Defining a realized niche using key habitat components like temperature, water clarity, and dissolved oxygen (DO) is important to understanding how distributions and demographics of freshwater fish populations may respond to environmental changes. However, habitat preferences are often defined in a laboratory setting and may not accurately reflect preferred habitat in nature. To define a...

Walrus Counts Apparent from Aerial Survey Images Collected Near Point Lay, Alaska Walrus Counts Apparent from Aerial Survey Images Collected Near Point Lay, Alaska

This dataset provides walrus counts in 10 m by 10 m square grid cells randomly selected from a standard set of grid cells established for the study area and that intersected with previously published walrus herd outlines and overlain on aerial survey imagery. Results are provided as geospatial polygons saved in the shapefile format. These data are based on visual interpretation of...
