The Southeast CASC explores invasvie species, coastal adaptation, climate-sensitive landscapes, urbanization patterns, structured decision making, and much more.
Established in 2010, the Southeast CASC provides regionally-relevant scientific information, tools, and techniques to resource managers and communities in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, Tennessee, Arkansas, and the U.S. Caribbean.
North Carolina State University serves as the host institution for the Southeast Climate Adaptation Science Center (SE CASC), providing organizational leadership to implement the CASC mission through capacity building, project management, communications, partnership development, and connections with scientific capabilities in the region. The SE CASC consortium of academic institutions brings together a breadth of expertise and capacity in natural, physical, and social sciences and management of natural and cultural resources. The SE CASC works with regional partners in the Southeast U.S. to identify global change-related information needed by natural and cultural resource managers, including physical and biological research, ecological forecasting, and multi-scale modeling.
To facilitate communication and collaboration with Tribal Nations in the region, the Southeast CASC is joined by several Tribal Climate Resilience Liaisons.
