Assessments

High temporal frequency land change mapping offers a new opportunity to better understand United States land cover and land use change processes on an annual basis. A greater understanding of these land dynamics that answers basic change questions allows other research into a myriad of environmental change issues to advance more completely in geographic and temporal scopes. Initial LCMAP regional-to-national scale assessments will address the building block questions of what has changed, where has it changed, how much of it has changed, what the rates of change are, and what caused the change. Other topical assessments will follow that cover a variety of subjects as further exploration of the LCMAP map products continue.
