Biography

Currently my work focusses on water-quality issues in the Willamette and Columbia River Basins.  I work closely with NOAA Fisheries, EPA, the Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership, Columbia Riverkeeper, and others in evaluating water-quality conditions in these basins and working towards a healthier environment for us all.

I started working at the Oregon Water Science Center in 1991 for both the Willamette and Yakima NAWQA projects. I work on water-quality issues, with a special focus on "toxics" issues. This has included pesticides in the past and more recently has focussed on emerging contaminants - pharmaceuticals, personal care products, wastewater indicators, flame retardants, etc. Currently my work focusses on the Columbia River Basin, but I have worked in the Yakima, Willamette, and Klamath basins in the past. As often as possible, I work closely with NOAA Fisheries because I feel it strengthens our results by adding relevance to the water-column data we collect.
