Summary of total mercury concentrations in dragonfly larvae, western mosquitofish, and tree swallow eggs collected from Cosumnes River Preserve 2011 – 2013

In order to document potential environmental health risk in Cosumnes River Preserve wetlands due to mercury, we analyzed dragonfly larvae, western mosquitofish, and tree swallow eggs collected from wetlands and rice fields of the Preserve from 2011 to 2013.

Compilation of BLM Monitoring Reports Assessing Post Wildfire Seeding of Rangelands, 2001-2009

We reviewed closeout reports from 2001-2009 to conduct a meta-analysis of seeding after wildfires to determine if seedings may (1) protect ecosystems against soil erosion and (2) reduce invasion or abundance of undesirable nonnative plant species.

Compilation of Studies Assessing Post Wildfire Seeding of Rangelands Worldwide, 1965-2010

We reviewed literature from 1965-2010 to conduct a meta-analysis of seeding after wildfires to determine if seedings may (1) protect ecosystems against soil erosion and (2) reduce invasion or abundance of undesirable nonnative plant species.

Nitrogen cycling rates from sagebrush and cheatgrass-invaded soils in the Northern Great Basin (2008)

This dataset contains data supporting the paper: DeCrappeo, N.M., DeLorenze, E.J., Giguere, A.T., Pyke, D.A., and Bottomley, P.J. Fungal and bacterial contributions to nitrogen cycling in cheatgrass-invaded and uninvaded native sagebrush soils of the western USA (accepted at the journal Plant and Soil). The purpose of the study was to evaluate the relative contributions of soil bacteria and...

Summary of Total Mercury Concentrations in Dragonfly Larvae, Western Mosquitofish, and Tree Swallow Eggs Collected from Cosumnes River Preserve 2011 – 2013

The Cosumnes River Preserve in the California’s Central Valley contains a mosaic of managed wetlands where conditions may promote high levels of methylmercury bioaccumulation. In order to document potential environmental health risk in these wetlands due to mercury, we analyzed dragonfly larvae, western mosquitofish, and tree swallow eggs collected from wetlands and rice fields of...

Count and detection-nondetection survey data of barred owls (Strix varia) in historical breeding territories of Northern Spotted Owls (Strix occidentalis caurina) in the Oregon Coast Ranges, 1995-2016

This dataset contains count and detection-nondetection data of Barred Owls from 106 historical breeding territories of Northern Spotted Owl territories (i.e. sites) in the Oregon Coast Ranges from 1995 to 2016. Data collected from 1995 to 2014 are partitioned into 2-week periods from 1 March – 31 August each year, totaling 12 possible sampling periods per year. Data collected from...

Oregon Spotted Frog (Rana pretiosa) Monitoring in the Oregon Cascades 2012-2016

This dataset contains information from visual encounter surveys conducted between 2012 and 2016 by USGS as part of an ongoing Oregon spotted frog (Rana pretiosa) monitoring effort in the Oregon Cascade Mountain Range. We surveyed 91 sites using a rotating frame design in the Klamath and Deschutes Basins, Oregon, which encompass most of the species' core extant range.

Temperature data loggers in Willow/Rock/Frazer watersheds of northern Nevada, 2015

This dataset includes spatial location information from 167 temperature data loggers that were installed throughout the Willow/Rock/Frazer watersheds of northern Nevada between July 30 and August 14, 2015. One hundred twelve data loggers were installed in stream channels (some of which were dry), 50 data loggers were installed outside the stream channel to measure air temperature, and 5 data...

Air temperature data in Willow/Rock/Frazer watersheds of northern Nevada, 2015-16

This dataset includes air temperatures from 50 data loggers that were installed in tandem with stream temperature data loggers, as well as five ridgetop data loggers, throughout the Willow/Rock/Frazer watersheds of northern Nevada between July 31 and August 15, 2015. Fifty-one data loggers were recovered and downloaded in late July 2016.

Compilation of BLM Monitoring Reports Assessing Post Wildfire Seeding of Rangelands, 2001-2009

Post-fire rehabilitation seeding in the U.S. Intermountain West, primarily conducted by the Bureau of Land Management, is designed to reduce the risk of erosion and weed invasion while increasing desirable plant cover. Seeding effectiveness is typically monitored for three years following treatment, after which a closeout report is prepared. We evaluated 220 third-year closeout reports...

Oregon Spotted Frog (Rana pretiosa) Monitoring at Jack Creek 2015-2016

This dataset contains information from mark-recapture and egg mass surveys conducted 2015-2016 by USGS as part of an ongoing Oregon spotted frog (Rana pretiosa) monitoring effort at Jack Creek, Klamath County, Oregon. Data consist of spotted frog counts aggregated by date, location, life stage, and sex, as well as data on environmental conditions at the time each survey.

Electrical resistance data from the Willow-Whitehorse watersheds of southeast Oregon, USA, 2014-2016

This dataset includes electrical resistance data from a network of 50 data loggers that was installed throughout the Willow-Whitehorse watershed of SE Oregon in September 2014. Data loggers were downloaded in August 2015 and September 2016. These data loggers were used as “electrical resistance” (ER) sensors, following Chapin et al. 2014. The sensors were Onset HOBO...
