Bioelectrical impedance analysis for an endangered desert fish—Data

These data were used to examine the effectiveness of a non-lethal tool (Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis, "BIA") to estimate the physiological condition of endangered and threatened fishes in the Colorado River Basin. We conducted laboratory trials using hatchery-raised Humpback Chub and Bonytail and wild-captured Roundtail Chub, where fish were subjected to different feeding trials to...

Desert Tortoise Ecology and Precipitation, Mojave and Sonoran Deserts—Data

These estimated precipitation data were compiled using the WestMap web site ( We selected pixels on the map shown on their web site that were in the core of our study areas: one near Palm Springs, California and the other at Sugarloaf Mountain in the Tonto National Forest of Arizona. WestMap uses PRISM data to...

Water classification of the Colorado River Corridor, Grand Canyon, Arizona, 2013—Data

These data area classified maps of water in the Colorado River at a discharge of approximately 227 meters squared/second in Grand Canyon from Glen Canyon Dam to Pearce Ferry in Arizona. The data are derived from interpretation of multispectral high resolution airborne imagery that was acquired in May 2013. The water classification data have the same 0.2-meter ground resolution as the imagery....

Climate, Wildfire, and Erosion Data, Western US

These data were used to examine how post-fire sedimentation might change in western USA watersheds with future fire from the decade of 2001-10 through 2041-50. The data include previously published projections (Hawbaker and Zhu, 2012a, b) of areas burned by future wildfires for several climate change scenarios and general circulation models (GCMs) that we summarized for 471 watersheds of the...

APPLICATION - Digital Grain Size Calculator

This is a free tool, working through your web browser, to calculate the particle size distribution of grains within digital photographs of sediment and other granular material. This is an implementation of the method of Buscombe (2013). Log in, upload your images, and download your particle size statistics.

DATA RELEASE - Experimental Design Plant and Soil Measurement Data, Colorado Plateau, 2011

These plant and soil data were collected by Timothy M. Wertin and Sasha C. Reed in the spring, summer, and fall of 2011 at a climate manipulation experiment site near Moab, UT (38.521411, -109.470567). These data were collected to assess how warming affects leaf photosynthesis, soil CO2 efflux, and soil chemistry in plots of ambient and warming treatments.

Large River Monitoring Forum Fish Assemblage Database 2016

The Large River Monitoring Forum compiled fish assemblage data for five large rivers in the U.S. as a part of a coordinated effort to compare and contract river monitoring efforts in large river systems. Fish community data from five monitoring programs were integrated to create the standardized dataset. Authors: Timothy D. Counihan1, Ian R. Waite2, Andy Casper3, David Ward4, Jennifer Sauer5...
