Geospatial Datasets of the Glacial Geology and Hydrogeology of the Lower Fall Creek Valley, Tompkins County, New York

September 25, 2026

This data release contains geospatial datasets that map and characterize the hydrogeologic conditions of the Lower Fall Creek unconsolidated aquifer system in Tompkins County, New York.
The release includes ten datasets. Nine are shapefiles: the extent of the study area, the aquifer boundary divided into hydrogeologic sections, the stratified-drift aquifer boundary, surficial geology polygons, traces of geologic cross-sections, esker deposits, glacial lineations, ice-margin positions, and gaining and losing stream sections along Lower Fall Creek. The tenth is a raster of the thickness of unconsolidated deposits above bedrock. All spatial data are referenced to UTM Zone 18N (NAD 83).
Datasets were derived from field measurements, existing New York State Museum surficial geology and bedrock-topography mapping, prior USGS aquifer mapping, and subsurface data including well logs, borings, and passive seismic soundings. Users are encouraged to consult the accompanying report (Woda and others, 2026) and the full metadata record for methods and data limitations.
